Developer Update: A Look at What’s Ahead for Wrath of the Lich King Classic

This is awesome! I’ve really liked all the communication we’ve had lately.

I pretty much agree with everything Blizz has done so far. Naxx in WotlK was WAY too easy. If Blizz doesn’t buff it, then there is no way it will be able to hold raiders’ attention for a couple months before Ulduar. Even in original wrath, Naxx was cleared first week. Prior to hearing this change, I was really worried that people would get bored with how easy Naxx was and just quit. It would have been far worse than the drought many of us saw in Phase 1 with just Kara/Gruul/Mag available.

Also agree with increasing Heroic dungeon difficulty. The wrath dungeons were a complete joke in original wrath that you could pretty much do in your sleep. Increase the difficulty and the rewards. It’s the only way to keep these dungeons relevant.

I think these goals/values align with what classic players are looking for in this game. I’ve noticed that many opponents to the removal of dungeon finder are primarily retail players. Well, retail players are not the intended audience in classic. If you want all the modern day conveniences, then go back to retail. That’s not what classic is about. It’s such a dangerous slippery slope when we start going down that path.

Heck, dungeon finder wasn’t even part of original Wrath on release. I think it was like 8 or 9 months later. So it’s puzzling seeing some people whining about it not being implemented at the very start when that’s not even how original Wrath was. Goes to show that this crowd is not actually interested in a truly “no changes” experience either.

Blizz, I hope you don’t get discouraged by some of the hateful comments that you are sure to see in this thread. They are a vocal minority.
