Devastation Evoker is FINE? HAVE YOU EVEN TRIED MAGE?

Can we stop being ridiculous and pretending devastation evoker is fine?

I’m extremely excited for preservation evoker, the healing spec.

But the entire class is anchored and dragged down by this DPS spec.

-Low range, half that of fire or frost mage.

-Extremely little mobility, especially when compared to fire and frost mage. To the point it’s clown world nonsense to me to call this mobile.

-Extremely squishy compared to fire/frost mage. Fire/frost have WAYYYYYY higher survivability! WAY HIGHER. WAY higher.

-Mage also offers all the slows, stuns, mage utility, a bloodlust etc. Actually, it offers MORE

So out of brutal raw curiosity… what is devastation evoker bringing over mage?

Oh yeah new class and wings, for something that does LESS THAN HALF what mage does.

Even mage brings bloodlust so that’s pointless. There is nothing dracthyr does that mage doesn’t do BETTER.

The scary thing is I HAVE seen some people on youtube and reddit and forums saying it’s good!

It scares me! I am actually invested into the class cause I know I will run the healer. So seeing all this bothers me immensely!

I WILL be playing evoker. I will HAVE TO play this horrifically clunky, miserable DPS spec. I don’t care about damage numbers even! I actually don’t! It does NOT feel good to play!

It’s a worse mage in EVERY regard.

-Utility? WORSE!
-Mobility? WORSE!
-Range? LITERALLY HALF!!!

And I’m going to be forced to play this!!!

You are not forced to play it, if you are not having fun with it or to its not good to you than why are you forcing yourself to play it?

In raiding, Windwalker monks have been through ups and down throughout in the history of raiding since monks release, through those down periods, I still play them because they are fun to play.

Like you said, it was fun to play. And I love the healing spec but the DPS spec is just NOT fun or good.

Everyone knows it’s trash tier design right now but the assumption is that Blizzard is trying to get it fixed before next week.

The dragons only being casters is weird to me since we see them with poleaxes and in plate armor in the trailer…

Seems like they were warriors, at the very least.

Devastation is entirely fine OP

The short range is more than made by the fact they have that CD that lets them use their mobility spell again regardless of the CD, and the closer range lets them express more skill with their placement abilities

what’s wrong with it if numbers hold up?

Use damage spells till proc, use proc. Spend resources.

More interactive than arcane mage of Legion.

Utility mobility and range aren’t entirely valid comparisons… enter the ret paladin.

The evoker thread on the beta forums is extremely harsh on devastation.

Sadly they’ve just run out of time. They’re going to have to fix that spec post release. At this point they are just tuning it to make the numbers competitive.

Honestly, biggest downside is the inability to use empowered spells while in hover.

I briefly dipped my delicate supple toes into the class and found it very underwhelming on beta. Hopefully, post-release it gets some needed love.

Because they’re the sales pitch for the entire expansion and a lot of people were super excited about them only to be let down by their pathetic situation before they even launched?
They’re only 5 days from being released and are still in that same situation, thankfully we know Blizzard, with their top notch efficiency when it comes to fixes and balancing will surely make them at least decent in 5 days, right? Oh yeah…
