It does very good damage but it has a kind of odd rotation for a brand new hero class
Have they not noticed evoker is garbage in pvp? Supposedly the most mobile class but cant even cast empowered spells and every other just is just as if not more mobile lol. Its a sad joke. I was really looking forward to playing one but at this rate is just ridiculous. Every arena or bg you’re always the target and just get rolled over constantly. They have enoigh problems with the class itself but in pvp its just horrible.
I still think it’s funny that it’s supposed to be an “advanced” class and it’s DPS rotation is legit the most brain dead DPS rotation of all the DPS classes.
At least preservation is fun, even if it’s saddled with an unnecessary range issue that will put it at the bottom of every raid healing tier list.
Dont kink shame
Mages can’t heal.
To be on topic.
I like the Devoker. Especially going for a pure Blue build.
Not all dracthyr are evoker…
Just the playable ones are.
You’ll see in the starting zone dracthyr with shields. Therefore other classes are a must along the line.
Weirder than tentacles?
I don’t care if dev is undertuned or even simple, the thing that kills me is that all beta players say it feels clunky and unrewarding, you can level and grind through stuff on any DPS spec regardless of performance, but if it feels bad to play that no one is going to play even Preservation because how the hell will they grind their world content and dailies and all that other junk?
Just play the game in Pres all the time and play with friends like this is EQ1?
Clunky is very good word for the dps spec. I think blizzard tried to hard to make it unique.
Much, at least tentacles will be…more then likely inserted into random holes of the nature i will not speak here.
…Dragon people bring moist oils on there scales and grinding awkwardly.
Why give a damn what other people say? Try for yourself and be the judge.
When I played it on beta finally after reading as many guides as I could find and going over the talent tree for hours. I made one jumped in pumped up only to follow the guides advice and all and was let down quick. It just isn’t fun, I won’t touch on damage or defense just fun and it isn’t fun.
You missed a spec. Devastation Evoker is also less mobile than Arcane Mage.
Arcane mobility tools:
- 2 blinks - they’re not on the GCD and can be cast while casting other spells. Also they instantly teleport the mage, unlike Hover which has a travel time. Blink is also on a shorter CD than Hover.
- Can go permanently at +50% at cost of doing single-target damage with proper talents.
- Optional talents like Alter Time to change positions.
- Clearcast procs for mobile dps while casting Arcane Missiles.
- Presence of Mind for mobile dps while casting Arcane Blast.
- Optional talent to give several seconds of mobile casting after standing still for 5 seconds.
The main Evoker single-target DPS spell is Disintegrate.
- It is a stationary channel. Casting it feels a lot like casting Arcane Missiles actually, but with much shorter range and no procs to make it castable while moving.
- An Evoker can make Disintegrate castable while moving with Hover. But unlike Blink, Hover is on GCD and casting it will interrupt a Disintegrate channel.
- Also, using it to cast Disintegrate while moving isn’t that useful. If you cast Hover, it’s most likely for the dash to get of bad. Your timing of Hover was based on bad appearing under you, not on where you were in your rotation. Either of your 2 empowered spells will probably come off CD while you are hovering, but casting either of them suppresses the hover effect.
- If you cast Disintegrate and then a circle of bad appears below you, you have to abort the Disintegrate channel to step of the bad. It’s either that or stand in it and take the damage and hope you don’t die.
- For mages arcane missiles are a filler spell. If you abort a channel it’s no big deal.
- However, an Evoker can typically only cast 2 Disintegrates before needing to stop and let essence regenerate.
- Result is every aborted Disintegrate can be a considerable amount of lost dps and feels really bad.
Having to abort a Disintegrate to step out of bad happens almost every combat. Putting bad under ranged so they have to move is a standard mechanic Blizzard has used for a very long time.
This is even worse for Evokers due to the short range of all their attacks. Short range, means they have to move more often to avoid bad.
It also makes Evokers very much a “gun turret” class. As an Evoker you feel much less mobile than all 3 mage specs and the vast majority of ranged dps specs overall.
My guess is they are saving massive buffs for it on day one to get more hype going and thus more sales.
Soooo your point is that if you want to play Devoker, you have to play strategic and b know the fights.
Sounds good to me.
Sounds like we need to keep BL to mail classes and remove it from mage? Sounds good to me
Well that’s part of playing any spec well.
My point was that Blizzard seems to have missed the mark. From their advertising, the design intent appears to have been to try to make a “highly mobile” ranged dps spec. A ranged dps spec that has shorter range than all others, but makes up for it with high mobility.
But that’s not what’s being delivered. Evoker has short range yes… but also some of the worst mobile damage output of any ranged dps spec in the game. Mobile dps as an evoker is awful.
I agree that there could be more mobility…
Like a toggle for hover and it being on all fight.
Evoker seems to be struggling really bad. Other than it being “cool” it has nothing going on for it to make it a hero class. Every new class did good when it was added. This will be the first new class to be DoA.
Why do I picture the OP wildly gesticulating as they type, and how does one even do that?
