Dethrone Guild Master Issues

I have been in control of this Alliance guild since my friend quit playing last year and he doesn’t plan to play anymore/spend money to play because he has real life issues that are more important.

Anyway, I told him that I wanted to take over the guild by dethroning him as GM, then disband the guild since my Horde guild allows Alliance now, and there is no need for 2 guilds. He said that was fine with him.

Before he left, he made this character, which is my main Alliance character, the highest rank under GM. I went to dethrone him, and it didn’t work. So, I tried again, thinking I needed to restart the game, still didn’t work.

Problem is, apparently this character is on Echo Isles and the Guild in on Moon Guard, and since I am not on the same server, I can’t do the dethrone. None of my other characters that are on Moon Guard are not high enough rank in the guild system to dethrone him and I do not have the power to make them a higher rank, only he can do it.

I told him this problem, and he refuses to re-sub just to change things, and I don’t blame him (with a new baby and all, he doesn’t need the added expense).

What do I do? This guild only has his and my characters in it, and it is not being used at all. Will sending a ticket even be worth the time?

Just Gquit…

CS doesn’t get involved in dethroning issues. You can either gift him game time to take care of it or just gquit?

If HE submits a ticket, we might be able to look into it.

I can’t promise we can help - but doesn’t hurt to ask.

As others have mentioned, we are pretty hands off with that now.

Truth. I had an issue where I was the creator of the guild I wanted to regain, but my rank was too low to actually do it.

No dice.

That’s… strange, given what we know. That’s generally the only instance where they can/do get involved, but in thinking about it I suppose it could also have something to do with how long it might have been since you lost control of the guild. Unless you were trying to reclaim it while the current GL was still active.

e.: Cursed edit-repost. :fist:

I think a lot depends on whether the former guild leader character is still in the guild. My assumption is that if the old guild leader leaves or is removed from the guild, any hope of reclaiming the guild is lost. Maybe it’s possible if they leave and later return?

The other player had been offline for over two years when I made my attempt. Only two of us in there.

The player’s entire Battle.net account must be inactive, not just the guild leader character or even WoW license. If he’s playing Diablo or Overwatch, you’re out of luck.

Interesting. I wonder if it’s because it was set to sign in when she started her laptop?

Well, I talked to my friend again and told him I would pay for 30 days gametime for him if he could log in.

He logged in after I paid for him and he made my character GM, so it is all good. He apologized for the mistake in making the wrong character able to take over the lead by dethroning. So now I have control of the guild and still trying to decide if I want to keep it for extra storage or dissolve it.
