Despair vs Gorehowl

Hello everyone.

I´m a Human Rettribution Paladin lvl 70 and today my guild clean Karazhan (we are very happy to have achieved it in the 1st week of the launch).

In that raid, two 2H Weapons drops and i earned both (I was the only one who wanted them and could use them). This 2 Weapons:
Despair and Gorehowl.

I want to know which one is the best for me, considering my human racial (+5 expertise with swords).

Gorehowl:

  • +5,9 damage per second
  • +1,72% crit
  • 0,1 more slow

Despair:

  • +5 experise (1,25%)
  • proc 600 dmg

Which one is the best for me?

From what I can tell, you could probably work with either. Neither are Lionheart’s.

So yeah. Apparently if you’re intent on not being a Blacksmith, the BiS may as well be a fashion choice.

I’d pick Gorehowl, but that’s just my warrior brain kicking in. Decently higher damage range with the extra stats vs a decent proc.

soc and sob are based on wep dmg so is CS

so… the one with the highest numbers

The slower one for bigger crits imo.

Our ret got both in our Kara but gorwhowl is better.

Gorehowl is cooler.

Despair… so delicious.

I’m still not sure if Gorehowl is better than Despair (for human ret paladin).

I asked in the “Paladin Classic” Discord and they told me Despair is way better than Gorehowl. But cheking some guides, they say Gorehowl is better.

Lionheart Champ > all, at least for this phase. And not by a little. If you aren’t blacksmithing, it doesn’t matter, because you’re just bad. Ok, ok, Gorehowl for PvP is better to start the season than Lionheart. But only for pvp.

Despair is a pvp sword.

That’s funny it reminds me of this server I was on demon soul back in 2008. Linking gorehowl was a huge meme for years and would cause massive troll posting in trade chat. It would actually get you warnings from the mod after you did it for awhile.
