You need to start the deserter buff ticking for it to disappear while you’re offline.

So if you alt+f4 during a bg, you’ll log back in to deserter later.
If you /afk, load outside the bg, then alt+f4, you’re fine.

if you dont afk out of bgs you never have to worry about deserter debuff.

There is one very strong case for quitting a BG:

  • Gets wintergrasp as attacker.
  • Loses initial rush

Option 1: Wait 20-25 minutes for it to end and get like 200 honor.
Option 2: Quit and wait 15 minutes for Deserter and rejoin a better match while doing something else more productive or on alts…
