Deserter Debuff when Kicked

I was kicked from a timewalking instance, for seemingly no reason, and now I have the deserter debuff? Why would I get that debuff when I didn’t bail on anyone and didn’t do anything wrong? Does this mean people can just kick for fun and I’m stuck for 30 minutes?

Not understanding this…

The debuff is granted for any reason when you did not complete the dungeon.

If you have feedback about this you can move the thread to the most appropriate forum with the pencil in your opening post as Support doesn’t handle feedback.

There was a time when players would not get this. So those players mostly healers or tanks would hold a group hostage refusing to do anything forcing them to be kicked. Because if they left they would get the debuff but if kicked they would not.

So the debuff was added to those being kicked as well. Unless there is a better way I would not expect this to change.

Also if you find 2 other friends to group with and you que for a group you can never get vote kicked since it takes 3 out of the 5 to kick you. So with 2 friends you have a permanent kick protection.

I’m not going into discussion about this, but people have explained to you about this. Please, stop.

Starting the debuff from the min the dungeon starts defeats the hole point actions have consequences weather its deliberate or being kicked.

To add to the above posts, there’s a reason why VtK applies the debuff. When using the random queue there are dungeons some folks don’t want/need, and will try to initiate a kick so they can simply requeue.

There are horror stories of people literally holding groups hostage until this was done. Tanks not pulling, healers just standing there, DPS intentionally mass pulling…It was messy.

It stinks getting kicked, but they don’t need a reason or a motive, and while being forced to chill for 30 minutes isn’t great it’s ultimately for the better.

Hoping your future runs are a bit less eventful.

You know if you kill the first boss and then you leave you get zero debuff. Unless they changed that, So this is kind of pointless.

That was changed due to community outcry.

Yup. People were farming a BiS trinket off a specific first boss and then ditching, free to queue again if it didn’t drop and kneecapping the rest of the run for the rest of the party, so Blizzard had to slow their roll.

It’s been mentioned already, but here’s the source.

Pooh, the entire purpose of the Customer Support forums is to offer help in where to go with any questions a person may have in relation to any problems or stuff within the game or the account. Customer Support is not a place to:

  • Advertise on a suggestion for someone to submit.
  • Provide Feedback about the game.

It is good that you have a suggestion, and you have submitted the suggestion via the In-Game Feedback tool. But this is not the place to advertise on a suggestion you have submitted, nor is a place for any feedback suggestion about any of the tools or the functionality within the game.

If you wish to have a proper discussion with the community about the Vote-Kick and its functionality, I suggest you purchase game time or a subscription, and post in the other community forums where discussion and feedback is allowed.

Do not think your idea would help, when the timer ran down to next to nothing you would have players doing what ever to get kicked.

Had no idea they changed the first boss thing. Why i also said last time i remember and not sure if it changed. Been a while since i have actively played.

So essentially the same original issue will persist without a tough penalty to drive changes in player attitude.

Doesn’t appear to have a good return of investment in developing and implementing what you proposed.

If they drop group they get the full 30 minute. No way around it, whole idea give players a good reason to stay the full dungeon.

Dont want to get kicked, bring 2 friends , so no way to get kicked

There’s always the determination buff for those Random groups finding difficulty with a boss. I’ve rarely seen more than 1 or 2 determination honestly. But that would be different feedback on the difficultly.
