Demonology Warlock

if your definition of ‘passive’ is hardcasted dots, sure

You really don’t have to cast that much, though. Less than destro or aff, actually. You are way way way less reliant on hand/imp damage as demo than you are on casted damage as destro/aff.

Dreadstalkers is instant with the pvp talent. You have demonic strength and soul strike as pet abilities, on top of really strong passive damage from the baseline felguard melee/pet special. Grimoire felguard is instant. Every demonbolt you use is instant. Tyrant is really the only part of your necessary burst sequence that you HAVE to hardcast, and it’s not that much of a loss getting kicked on it once or twice, because you’re not using it for it’s direct damage, just to keep your fel lord and grimoire felguard out for 15s longer. Hand is a super short cast, and you can cast it while locked on shadow.

Sounds like a lot of buttons I have to actively press though… if your problem is instants, well, start with deleting bm?

For tyrant you also need many imps to get the most use out of it with the tyrant build, so you’re really still hardcasting quite a bit if you want to actually generate any pressure

I don’t have a problem with it in any way. It’s good and should stay good. Also the use of tyrant in PvP is different than PvE. You are generally going to play a lot more defensively, and you will have just used 3 shards on fel lord + grimoire felguard right before you tyrant anyway, so it’s unwise most of the time to try and depend on having a bunch of imps up before using it because you’ll interfere with a more useful spend of shards. In pvp the difference in using tyrant with 2 imps up and 8 imps up is pretty negligible. Your overall split of damage is not going to be super favored towards having a lot of imp damage. The Tyrant talent in general isn’t super useful in pvp for that same set of reasons. The demonbolt one is still way better in arena.

Yep any “fun” demo had in it’s playstyle died when Legion came out

Not saying they are terrible man for sure. They definitely bring more cc than either other warlock spec.

I think it suffers a lot from having a lot of their stuff on the same spell school. You kick a destro on fear he can go straight into setting up some damage with immolate/rof or casting chaos bolt.

Demo damage also requires way more hard casting and ramp up time.

Also when playing with then destro feels just as tanky as demo thanks to skin without having to top a pet. Heaven forbid that pet gets cleaved because then that warlock is squish. Hurts the dampen game having to keep the pet topped.

Honestly I’ve healed mostly destro and a bit of demo through 2-2.2k and destro felt waaayyy better to play with every single time.

Demo has very consistent pressure but it’s burst is more than underwhelming comparatively to other specs. It’s viable but is very reliant on their partner to be doing the killing. How many demo locks have you actually lost to? lol. I’ve q’d into like 4 different ones on ladder this whole xpac.

This is a fair point, but they still do well in dampening comps, which are the meta right now. Demo WLS comes to mind

I’d have to say that’s more of a healing issue than anything. Healing a Demo lock is very strenuous on a healer’s mana. Now you have healers that don’t ever go OOM so it relies on kills in heavy CC / lockouts on those healers (Hpal/rdruid/mwer).

This is one of the biggest issues I have with this xpac. Can hardly say that’s Demo’s fault. It’s a genuine concern but the finger is pointed in the wrong direction.

Demo doesnt do well against good players. Bad players will stand in the open and let the demo lock build momentum which is pretty insane sustained dps. Then all they have to do is throw an occasional cc/kick on the healer and they win. But good players will LOS the lock when they start building their momentum. and since locks have no mobility your shti out of luck until they decide to come back out, forcing the lock to build momentum while also having to work through another wave of kicks/stuns.

Everyone plays destro/aff because they have demon armor you derp. Atm demos are getting tunnelled and 1 shot by meler cleaves still just like in 8.0
