Demonology Talent Changes for 10.1.5 are Awful

Poor Jane. :sob:

“destro is immobile spec” blizzard: "wi see now it’s about time to make demo immobile so both specs will be balance out. aff’s ? it’s on the table but here’s a sneak peak we discussed during lunch. all dots have a cast time 1.8/2.0 seconds and duration reduced by 30%.
good luck, my fellow locks. i have 2 months left.

Disagrees with you.

Haven’t played demo as a main in a while but just here to state the demo rework further pushes me away from my warlock, can’t stand malefic rapture and sl so aff is out. Destro is fun but the mobility is a real issue I don’t want to deal with. From the outside demo looked like the warlock spec that needed the least changes, in fact of all 38 specs in the game right now I would argue demo in terms of the actual talent tree and kit was one of the better built specs, tuning aside.

Hoping this rework doesn’t go all the way like shadow’s did.

The issue that gets me is that as a pvper this is an extremly poor direction.

Fel covenant is fun

Demo is middle of the pack based on that graph. Maybe theyre change affliction since its at the bottom and also unfun to play.

Shadowbolt cast time is short. Be thankful its not the vanilla cast time of 3.5 seconds.

I dont even play my warlock since the big pvp nerfs and now this? Game going downhill fast.

Everyone HATES that talent.

Yeah, they want us to play with it apparently.

Boy, now I want Fel Covenant deleted so they can’t have any bs ideas.
They are thinking about delete some talents next patch, so they should at least start with that piece of garbage.

Hard casting what now? Oh you mean throwing chaos bolts at fools because I’m not hard casting shadowbolts in a gutted Demo spec.

The absolute worst part about Demo as it is right now are the moments where casting shadowbolt is your only option.

At least I have green fire in Destro :dracthyr_shrug:

Stop rerolling and justifying this out of touch behavior from the devs. It’s clichĂ©, but just unsubcribe. So many other options out there from both an MMO or RPG standpoint.

I’m getting my 2100/2400 in RSS and then dipping for a very long time. It’s like they dont want to have a successful expansion from start to finish. The last 3 expansions these privileged bstrds get the luxury of starting strong and then they just self sabotage themselves over and over again. I’m just sick of it.

Revenue wise, WoW is alive and well but the soul of the game might as well be dead. The nostalgia that keeps me coming back is finally fading.

Sounds like a player/skill issue honestly. Can never have too many core procs. Not a bad thing to have extra ammo im the pouch. That’s how it feels with demombolt.

Slinging bolts out like I’m shooting a magnum has been the most satisfying game play I’ve experienced in this game in a long, long time. Demo is probably the best designed spec, or at least one of the best designed.

Apparently even some RWF members are speaking out against this complete gutting of the spec, so maybe - just maybe - Blizzard will listen to them (since god knows they don’t listen to anyone else) and revert the changes.

If it’s damage they’re concerned about, everyone would be much happier with a base nerf to potencies and output across the board. It’d beat the entire spec getting completely gutted and turned into something no one likes, all because the warlock devs are apparently incompetent.

I’m largely an outsider to the class, and have only been looking into this rework today. I’m actually just partway through leveling my demo lock 60-70 this week. So take my opinion with a huge grain of salt. The thing that I really hate with this approach they’re taking is they’re reducing the effectiveness of demons and putting more emphasis on the warlock themselves hard casting. That just completely flies in the face of the demonology spec! Mechanics aside it’s just completely misunderstanding the spec fantasy. I don’t want to cast actual spells at all. I want my demons to do my work for me. Casting shadow bolt should be the bottom of the priority list. If I wanted to do the damage myself I’d play destro.

No they wouldn’t. A damage nerf is the last thing demo needs.

Nerf/remove PI instead.

They might as well make demo a melee fighter with an army of demons. Stupid idea I know but we have no cloth melee and warlock swinging a scythe sounds cool. Still a stupid idea.

All this changes because they refuse to change PI.

“Hey guys, what should we do with Warlock? They have one spec where a lot of people really hate the shard spender, one spec that’s an immobile turret that just feels a bit bad to play when there’s high movement, and one spec that just chefs kiss flows. The players mostly love it and the rotation is the smoothest rotation they’ve had in recent memory. It feels good to play everywhere. Only thing people ask for is for grimoire felguard to line up better with other CDs.”

“Oh oh! Let’s give that last spec a tier bonus that helps with grimoire felguard aligning with CDs.”

“Hmm that’s a pretty good idea Steve. Get it on the books for immediate implementation. Anyone else?”

“Let’s nerf that last spec’s main hard hitting spender.”

“Wait uh
”

“And lets also make the spec have to cast shadow bolt more.”

“But the players hate shadow bo-”

“And lets reduce shard economy so it bones over Steve’s tier set bonus. We’ll make one of their good spells worse, make it so movement sucks like Destro, and overall just make this really smooth spec feel worse to play in general.”

“Gary Warlock-Hater, I had some apprehensions when I put you on this Warlock team, but by god you’ve blown me away! Steve?”

“Yeah?”

“You’re fired. Get the heck out of here and take your trash ideas with you. I’ve never liked you. Maybe do some soul searching and figure out why you’re a way worse dev than Gary. Gary? You’re promoted to permanent Warlock lead dev.”
