Demonology has been mediocre since the start legion back in 2016.
Its been 4 and 1/2 years and this spec has seen basically no representation in M+, PvP, or raiding.
2021 and this is still the case yet we have seen no tuning changes since the expansion has gone live. I dont understand whats the issue? Why is it acceptable for this spec to remain gutter tier trash for eternity?
Covenants choices suck
PvP talents dont work like they should. Fel lord been unusable since BFA started
Talent choices are bad (give it up for year 4 of nether portal being useless)
Pets are too squishy and do no damage
Too much ramp up with no pay off
Too many abilities with a needless cast time
Tyrant build is degenerate and annoying with bad pet AI in PvP
Shadowfury still has a cast time in 2021
WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE A CAST TIME?
Implosion is anti synergy with the design of the spec to build an army
I swear to god why is infernal+ darkglare instant BUT TYRANT HAS A CAST TIME
FIX THIS SPEC ALREADY.

I think people don’t play Demo in PvP because it has a very high skill cap, it has a super bad stigma around it, and people just don’t like pet classes in general. Demo locks are getting 2.5k in arena so it’s not like we aren’t viable.
As a demo main I am just done, I asking cs for a refund on my game time because the dev’s are clueless (no surprise they’re pros at it).

BFA their was literally only 2 demo locks over 2.4k CR… Epicburn was one of them…and actually switched to Destro this expansion cause of how bad Demo is in Arena…
If one of the two Demo lock pros in PvP switched cause Demo is trash it says something.
I’m looking now to see how many Demos are over 2.5k, ahhh… I can’t see any where are you seeing them?

This is mostly to balance us against melee. Without a cast time melee would be at a disadvantage as they would be unable to interrupt us and we could endlessly kite them.
As we all know, melee can’t do damage unless they are in melee range, and melee have very little ability to gap close or stay in range and are endlessly kited - by having us cast it gives the poor melee a chance to get back into melee range with us and do some damage.

Then why does every Spec have amazing procs for Insta casts that pump… all mage specs, balance druid, shadow priest this expansion, elemental shamans…don’t get me started on hunters.
What do we have, Demonology Dreadstalkers (talent demonic calling) and Demonbolt, which both really do minimal damage…
I believe Destro and Afflic have 0…while Demo has 1 baseline and can be 2 if talented…
I was literally going to list the spells of the other classes but I’ll be here forever…
It be a different story for Demonology, if Demonbolt actually did good damage, even with Decimating bolt, 3 charges using Demonbolt is equivalent to one Pyro which is literally spammable especially in combust window.

Well my point is that Demo CAN be played at a really competitive level, it is just that it takes more knowledge and skill than majority of the other specs/classes.

Everyone who plays the game knows that it’s virtually impossible to get any distance off a melee - every melee has multiple leaps, dashes, ports, grips etc - not to mention the no DR interrupts and stuns.
I have a hard enough time getting instants off with the way the game is at the moment in arena.
And even then you have to force the spec to work for you, double so in pvp.
It’s not a bad spec, but many of the biggest problems lie at the root of the spec so touch everything in it. Like the unimpressive dmg outside of tyrant windows.

Only reason we’re sort of Viable is because our tyrant is a 1.5 min cd and DC scales really well against players. Outside of our tyrant window we do no damage. Not to mention tyrant can be losed by any competent player.
That is why most demo locks at high ratings run Wilfred’s. Clearly people are doing something right if they are getting 2.5k as demo, people have more common sense there, at least you would think.

I’m sorry bro demo locks aren’t viable. Yes there are a select few who made it work in twos such as Kamahlen and mgodx and I’m sure some top warlocks such as Chanimals can make it work. But they would even tell you it’s not worth it along with a list of reasons why.

Ya they’ve had 5 years to try and make the new “Mass summoner” spec design work and it’s arguably in the worst state it ever has been. Kind of annoying how the only reason they reworked it in the first place was because another class had an ability with the same name. Demo meta didn’t look or function anything like DH meta but instead of just renaming it they decided to completely ruin it. Hopefully they realize that the current design will never work. Too reliant on ramp. Too reliant on AI. Demons are just DoTs that can be CCd, line of sighted, and outranged. The current design will never work in PvP. They should just revert it finally. The MoP/WoD version of Demo held up so well. It was good in all forms of content and had a completely unique playstyle. I hope they realize this before the next expansion. I miss my favorite spec. Nothing has been able to compare. It’s about time it returned to its former glory. #BringBackOldDemo

That’s not what he said. What he said is Demo has failed to be viable since it was reworked in Legion. Outside of the very beginning of Legion, Demo has been completely unplayable in PvP, and extremely bad in M+. It has only ever been viable in Raid and that’s only because it can sometimes pull good numbers. Also just because it’s viable in raid sometimes doesn’t make its horrible inherent design flaws any less awful.

Being happy, or lack thereof based solely on numbers is the 100% wrong way to play this game imo. It’s supposed to be fun, and if you find Demo fun, why is that holocaust levels of wrong to some people?
