You don’t pay attention, do you?
Yes it is. It’s just not practical.
Pay attention, there will be a quiz at the end.

Extremely unlikely this was done for the purposes of making a distinction between spells in different expansions. More than likely it’s just a side effect of creating and deleting data throughout the development process.
#ReckBomb.
You can look up any spell by the ID with wowhead.

Or

1 appears to be the first version of a hearthstone.
I love this. Thank you for referencing the actual client when responding to people’s memories and, more likely, what they are playing right now on private servers.
Any time questions like this Summoning Disorientation pop up. Blizzard can hotfix/patch.
That does not warrant a beta. Haven’t everything “perfect” at launch only delays launch.
Things will be within reason to launch. Even if some things are slightly off.
You ever read the first post of a thread, scroll down to the bottom, and wonder what the Hell happened?
every single thread I have ever created has ended up like that…
Asking for a Beta is perfectly reasonable. And normal in any software. It’s up to Blizz, but most developers like a beta. Use the client in as many different environments as possible in the shortest amount of time
In any event, this was proven the day that Classic Update post was created. There was another thread (now deleted) that one of the replies showed several videos from Vanilla in which the demon instantly despawned when the warlock summoned another. Still, I greatly appreciate the devs’ commitment to authenticity by triple checking this and giving us even more evidence to settle the topic. Very good sign.
Any info in if and when we might see an alpha or beta?
As long as that beta does not postpone launch, it’s all good. Except, a short beta is no beta at all. The exact same “reports” can be done after launch.
The Client is not in question here though. That is software that has already had a beta. It’s only the database that is in question.
It’s march. They said summer 2019 as launch window. We still have more than 3 months until summer even starts officially. Any beta that starts with in the next month/month and a half will not delay the launch.
Yes, but why play with things broken, when they can be tested and fixed before hand? Also the beta can do more then just test bugs. It can be used to test methods of initial population controls on servers or how loot trading is going to affect the world.
You have to remember, there are things being brought over from 7.3.5 that weren’t in vanilla. It’s not a bad idea to give Classic a beta and see how those things affect the world even if they aren’t gameplay related.
Well said.
Ok, how long did it take to get an answer to “Summoning Disorientation”.
Anything that can pop us can be fixed quickly, if it’s an obvious need to fix. Those that require database research, probably can happen quickly too. I am well versed in agile development methodology. I am also well aware of how that white list of items to be fixed builds fast.
So, where do you place things like Summoning Disorientation vs all the other items that are pertinent to launch?
Unless you believe that are going to be serious bugs that kill the launch experience. Then I will submit the demo as exhibit A. It launch, and hotfixed/patched, as needed. Without a beta.
Beta = quality control. Folks will be taking time off for release. An implosion during beta is far more forgivable than at launch.
Blue is great for reporting this finding and communicating clearly with the community, no complaints with that at all.
Overall I am a little concerned that this will be used as some strawman argument intended to discredit the input of those who played on private servers.
I played a lock 1-60 on a huge private server and I had no problems at all with the assertion that pets despawn when summoning a new one. I even remember it that way in vanilla. So I don’t think it’s helpful to cherry pick a few comments and pretend they are prevalent among all vanilla Nost-type players.
Remember that private servers have been the ONLY WAY to play vanilla for the past 12 years. The devs of these servers had to conduct science experiments just to approximate how vanilla existed, in the same way that Classic team is doing experiments to verify that data. All of this was done out of necessity because Blizzard NEVER HELPED until now.
Are you new? I present to you every patch launch since Beta.
I remember servers being taken down for over day for patch mess ups. I remember when they “forgot” to patch macs.
Every patch the TS forums explode. Beta is good. But it’s up to the developers.
How about invite to beta those of us who’ve never played on a private server, since we’re untainted by possible false information? Only merely tainted by my terrible memory from 13+ years ago.
Amusing, but even if that was something they wanted to do, there is no way of proving someone has or hasn’t played on a private server beyond their word.
