Demon Hunters are perfect examples of how far class design has fallen

Class design has been lackluster since Legion, with most classes feeling bad to play. This is made even more apparent when we look at Demon Hunters, Blizzards most recent class that they have created (also created in Legion, what a coincidence)

It only has 2 specs, and its DPS spec especially is so faceroll that it’s not even funny. It steals class fantasy from other classes, and it’s rotation is simple and boring. The amount of “buttons” it has is pathetic.

Sometimes I wonder why classes are so lackluster, then I look at Demon Hunters, a class created by this current team and it all makes sense.

Everything feels bad and I don’t know if it is the pace of combat, the number of abilities, the fact I spend more time looking at my CD’s then I do the game. Something changed… Not sure this return to class over spec they got planned is really going to solve the problem.

DH suffers from looking amazing and feeling smooth and comfy, but being really simple and boring. Easy to pick up, little else. When Momentum was the top tier talent for damage it had a high skill ceiling, but then that got nerfed and it’s brain dead.

Still, nothing is better (except maybe Rogue) for world content - the double jumps, glide, dashes, and high burst are just amazing.

Playing Priest in Classic made me realize how much i hate Priest in BFA.

Seeing all those once unique racial traits turn into baseline spells in the kit is gross.

Don’t get me started on the snore fest that is Hunter.

Well… it’s for the best. The difference in power level of the Priest racials was way too big.

Legion had the best spec ever created in WoW. WW Monk, too bad they ruined it in BFA.

I disagree. MoP Demo was one of the greatest times ever for a spec. Heck, the whole Warlock class was at its absolute best during MoP.

They weaved them into baseline spells for everyone.

That is what upsets me.

Posting in a troll thread.

MoP locks did get a lot of love. But the problem was that they were absurdly OP in pvp. Guess it didn’t matter in pve or when one played them, but they were quite broken in that environment.

From what I’ve seen a lot of complexity Blizzard adds these days is not necessarily in the amount of buttons, but instead in how those buttons interact with various procs. The procs and timings that you have to hit, as well as optimize in how often you hit them, are what seem to add complexity to a lot of specs.

This is suppose was part of their overall strategy to remove the bloat of abilities but keep complexity when playing the classes.

Demon Hunter is the peak that all other classes should strive to be like.

If that’s the peak I’d rather stay at the valley.

I played a warrior for 14 years, demon hunters are my favourite class now.

They are great, while simple in raids, their out of raid gameplay of fel rush x 2 plus jump spin 180 and venge retreat never gets old, it adds action to otherwise mindless “i want to be over there now” gameplay. Also glide and double jump are great.

Edit: My only gripe with demon hunters is that sigils should be made available to both specs, ditto eye beam, its such an iconic ability to the class.

The DPS being faceroll is more a consequence of Blizzard not even attempting to make the alternative talent builds viable.

for amount of buttons and complex (multiple unique) mechanics you’d want to play ffxiv (pve, pvp is sadly terrible)

Took 3 days to understand how black mage even works and he’s supposed to be easy
