Delves are popular

It’s a chill, relaxing mode with no external pressures.

You’re not beholden to a timer or a bar graph. There’s no rush. No downtime between pulls.

You can run practically any build for any spec and still get rewarded at the end, while still having a challenge. Variety is the spice of any MMO RPG. You can do single target, AoE, Cleave, Dots, Burst, Sustained, etc. If Blizzard tweaks the Delves just right, they could be the most enticing content Blizzard’s created since Raids.

I, for one, like that aspect more than ‘You must maximize AoE build for M+’ or ‘You must maximize Single Target for Raid’.

The gear is decent for launching into M+ or Raids. You get your Vault slots, pieces that are gated behind maps and keys on weekly quests, and you don’t generate enough Crests to upgrade them.

Delves are probably not going away, so the M+ crowd (specifically the Mythic + LFG/Pugging crowd) is probably going to wail and gnash their teeth every content patch despite Mythic + still being the best way to farm gear for any content.

But, thankfully, they’re as a small minority as the Mythic Raiders that whine about farming crests in M+.

Agreed.

Delves are also a product of Blizz finally realizing most of the playerbase would prefer end game content that is challenging solo. Its just too stressful dealing with elitist and gatekeepers.

M+players can deal with their rotting conditions themsleves.

These are the critical factors! They better not ever add god damn timers!

M+ player here as well as heroic raider <

I feel Delve gear ilvl is far too high for the non-existent difficulty level.

It doesn’t phase me though because this is 2024, not 2007 - times change and stuff like this needs to happen or the game will die.

We have our ways to play with likeminded people with similar skill IE: Raider io

It is a game mode that is perfect for the average WoW player. Wants a challenge that is rewarding but not beholden to a time limit and absence doesn’t disrespect other players time.

Huge Ws for this new mode.

I wouldn’t even say M+ is ‘rotting’. It’s just bad M+ players over-reacting.

I know you said you don’t care but I just wanted to remind people that delve gear is that high for a reason, it is required to progress and beat the final boss of delves and thus is needed for people who only run delves to actually gear enough to accomplish that feat.

I’d say Delves practically rain loot on people, but after getting 11 trinkets and maybe two useful pieces out of them and getting frustrated and seeing my guildmates get fully equipped or get 3+ bounty maps in less than 10 delves (I have gotten 2 in just under 50), I’ve decided that they’re dogwater content that rewards disproportionately powerful gear for relatively low difficulty. Except to me.

I just have to farm M+ like the unlucky pleb I am.

Let them, raiders were doing that before they were.

It really isn’t though - after all of the nerfs to delves bosses fall over.

Edit: I forget I am 610 ilvl and people doing delves are likely 597-ish or so.

Sorry kekw I get it I get it.

Well said.

The delves are pretty gorgeous, even vibing in Fungal Folly is pretty mesmerizing because you’re all alone, no timer, no “GO, GO, GO, GO” nonsense and most importantly no raider IO…

It’s peaceful.

same can be said for m+

i feel m+ gear ilvl is far too high for the non-existent difficulty level.

explain to me how i am able to get full mythic geared from m+ all through dragonflight but yet only have 40-50% of a mythic raid cleared and only get maybe 1 raid drop?

m+ was way to rewarding for its content level. hell even now it is still too rewarding. a 10 will be an absolute joke once we are all 616-624 ilvl.

I’m going to assume you’re joking here.

Have you stepped into Mythic+ higher than a 7? If you don’t roll your CDs right you get 1 shot.

M+ is some of the hardest content in the game, right behind Mythic raiding.

I have done Fungal Folly the most, finally completing tier 8 twice a couple days ago, with a lot of rolling, lol.
I haven’t done a lot of the others but the “kind of” timers like the gas one where you need to get to the next air machine or the ones where the candles run out are a little annoying because you kind of can’t stand around and do nothing or take your time, you do need to move a little faster…unless I’m doing it wrong. So it does feel a little more stressful in those…as well as the underwater if you don’t have something to keep you breathing, ha. Overall though, so far, I’ve enjoyed them quite a bit. Been taking my time and will try a couple new ones this week and see if I can get up to 8 on those as well.
For someone who doesn’t do mythic anything or really raids in general, delvers are good for me overall.

Editing on 10/7 to add that multiple people have responded now to let me know I didn’t know to put down the candle and air totem, but once the first person responded to let me know I’ve been doing it right since then, you can stop telling me now, lol.

This is what I mean about Delves being popular. None of these pointless measuring contests. Pretty sure these two are going to bust out the Achievements and the Io Score and the ilvl pretty soon.

Ah, you referring to Waterworks and Krievigal’s Rest(Think I spelled it right).

One of the things that helped me out is dropping the totem/candle between pulls that way I’m not wasting its charge.

yes i actually have. but the fact of this discussion is that a +8 delve which gives the highest possible loot for its content is only champion gear with a heroic vault slot which is equal to a m+5, which is also faceroll.

if delves were giving heroic loot on a 8 and mythic track vault then i think i could agree with you. but its not. it gives champion gear at a rate of 4 items per week.

I think what attributes to them as well was things like solo shuffle.
Those have been immensely popular since they released.

Delves are essentially the pve version. And the fact the rewards are on par with mid keys is also a huge factor.

No I agree, I really do.

I’m an old school WoW player where it was literally raid for loot or no loot at all so I’m still coming to terms that casual players actually have a way to get gear that’s above heroic dungeon ilvl now.

I hope not, I do like being set apart from people with little to no skill (not trying to be rude)
