Delves are kinda too easy now

I’m not sure how you think they should make delves more “difficult” without making them awful.

Blizzard’s idea of difficulty scaling is increasing mob HP and outgoing damage. It’s not exactly what I’d consider fun, but it is how Blizzard tunes things.

Can you imagine what delves would feel like if the trash had 100M HP? Delves that take 45 minutes each would bore people faster than ever. Same thing with outgoing damage, for example, if they changed it such that allowing two web bolts through would cause you to die. It wouldn’t be better, it would be horribly tedious. I’m glad I’m not stuck at Tier 5 for 4 weeks until I earn the privilege to do the exact same thing with slightly different numbers at Tier 6.

Says the Death Knight… Like come ON man!

Roll a DK and faceroll it then

Anyone running tank bran more than healer mode as a dps?

Feels kind of awkward to me but seems to be the easiest version of bran. Mobs hit me too hard to let healer bran catch me up in health.

Yes, I had to do it yesterday, run Brann as a tank instead of healer on final boss of Ex. Site 9. It’s funny I felt like I was “cheating” doing that, but was a world of difference. I will try to stay with Brann as healer when DPS whenever possible.

Agreed. Delves are far too easy now for season 2. I just got my Immortal Spelunker achievement for season 2 (t11 delve with no deaths) solo on an assassination rogue at ilvl 631. Last season, I never even did that achievement on my rogue; I got it on my DK. This season, I got it the first week, and I didn’t even have the top ilvl for LAST season. That isn’t even fun to me.

They at least need to add more higher tiers for players who enjoy more of a challenge in delves and want to see how high they can push themselves.

I don’t agree. They are far too easy. Their target audience varies greatly; from players who want no challenge to players who want more challenge, group to solo players, and whatever else inbetween. Personally, I wanted a great solo challenge. Being able to do a tier 11 with no deaths solo on my assassination rogue (ilvl 631) in the first week, which basically just won delves for me for the season, is absolutely ridiculous. Delves now offer no real challenge for me to try to meet by gearing up other than possibly the main boss for Delves for the season, if I even want to do that. I don’t find the rewards for it to be that enticing, but I’ll probably go check it out later today or tomorrow.

Right? I feel like tank bran should be designed to work primarily with a healer or at least a hybrid.

But as you say, almost cheating. I can do 11s with him in tank mode as a havoc DH at 616ilvl gear. Which just thematically doesnt feel right. I dont want to say nerf tank bran but i don’t think it was the intent for that mode.

This statement contradicts itself.

How so? Did you read what it was referring to and the rest of it as well?

The target audience varies greatly in what they want and their skill level.

For the record I think you’re the one that’s wrong. They’re not “far too easy”. They’re fine how they are now.

This I can support. Preferably not something that’s infinite scaling but adding more tiers, mechanics, and cosmetics past the reward track would be welcomed.

I’d be fine with this. I never pushed past 8s in S1 because I just cared about the gear. Now I want to do 11s because I can get mythic appearances out of it. That’s my goal. If the cosmetics are good enough (so far delve cosmetics haven’t been the greatest imo) it could incentivize me to push higher. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t do it for a mount.

Again, that still doesn’t explain how it “contradicts itself.”

The point is, the players who want to do delves, the “target audience,” isn’t something that is easy to define as it encompases a lot of different types of players. Making the delves easier is only meeting the needs of those who just want easy end-game gear, which is weird when the gear ilvl doesn’t match the difficulty. However, it doesn’t meet the needs of the other players, like those who want the rewards to actually feel like they match the difficulty and who want something to work toward in delves (delves, not the delve boss). Furthermore, it is likely going to wreck the balance between group and solo content that bliz is trying to create because it feels significantly easier than it should. I like the increased crests for this season. I just don’t like that I already did a t11 solo without any deaths on an assassination rogue at ilvl 631, which is something like 27 ilvls lower than what is recommended.

It would be easier to meet the more realistic demands of a “target audience” if the tiers and difficulty still kept increasing with just slightly higher crest rewards. That way players could just go as high as they want. As it is, the great vault rewards only go as high as tier 8. Higher than that does not keep increasing it.

I think blizzard is saving the challenge for the next patch with the horrific visions, those can get pretty annoying and they might increase the difficulty even higher according to their post.

Blizzard probably isn’t going to add any rewards to those higher tiers even if they added them.

I think a ceiling on the gear/rewards you can get from delves is intentional. I won’t be surprised if it was because of balance reasons - delves are really easy for some classes and an absolute pain for others (especially when the bosses are immune to their mechanics; and this of course only applies to certain classes)

Some content isn’t meant to scale infinitely.

The problem was that delves could be really easy or virtually impossible at rank 11 depending on class / spec.

I mean some classes have easier times in raids/mythics/pvp as well

Also I’m fairly sure every spec was able to clear 11s last season and they were harder than currently 11s and we had lower gear then

Idk but if they make them harder as in more hp sponges and one shots it’d ruin delves. Tired of the constant health sponges these days

I was instantly reminded of this topic after seeing this one.

Guess they have something in common now? :joy:
