Delves are great BUT traps and objectives are bad

When this is the option a) and the option b) is jump mushrooms, dodge poison spit most of the time, channel a crystal in the mushroom

I bet most players will pick option A)

Rewards are trash and drop rate on anything Iā€™d want seems to be abysmally low, couple that with having to use keys to even get anythingā€¦

Just meh.

We get to walk into that HUGE treasure pile at the end and pick up 3 gold and some change from those sparkling piles?

LOL

The objectives are generally fine, but some of these traps are absolutely obnoxious; between their damage output and the way they limit the area you can work in while also handling the boss isā€¦ a bit obnoxious especially if this is intended as solo content.

You are kind of right, what i meant by objectives implies jumping in mushrooms, channel crystal in the mushroom, dive picking toolsā€¦ these are not fine.

Mechanics for a mob are different then a puzzle stopping your progress through an area or a quest. Massive difference actually.

Iā€™ve been running all of the Delves at Tier 3. So far, I havenā€™t run into any issues with this. Brann dies to standing it and I roll my eyes. But otherwise, I havenā€™t had a problem.

Weā€™ll see what they do with higher tiers, though. I think itā€™ll be interesting.

This is Horrific Visions 2.0, which had similar. Granted, I despised Horrific Visionsā€¦ but Delves arenā€™t too bad so far.

I like puzzles and some objectives. Iā€™m not crazy about traps.

The worst one Iā€™ve seen so far had me in a fight with some PoS Ascended that had piles of AOE, dropped puddles, good meleeā€¦ in a room flooded with those spinning flamethrowers. Took a pile of Determination stacks to overcome that empowered 3.

Now, I did it as a dev which I have less expierience with (normally Iā€™m Aug, but it would not have gone better that way) and the Game refuses to give me anything that isnā€™t Verse (Iā€™m hoping the patch today fixes that) but still: this hurt.

I enjoyed the first time I do these things.

But the second and third?

Work vs Reward is quite poor so far in this xpack, it feels like.

Case in point, I want a little mushroom cap xmog that drops in Fungal Frenzy or whatever itā€™s called.

Iā€™ve run that place on Tier 3 about 20 times.

All this for that with just some gold and tokens to show for it. It can really take the wind out of your sails. It never dropped.

It does remind me of Visions, though it does have the advantage of no time limits.

Maybe one or the other instead of both being in some delves. Iā€™m interested to see how tough these get on my shadow priest. I agree with you on rewards though. Not enough gold and maybe something useful at the end. However, I did burn a key on a bountiful delve and was happy with the drop at the end. That might be the only way to guarantee a relevant reward.

Yes, 15 gold and 2 empty chests definitely is not worth the time it requires

Visions were so good, no charades, good rewards

What if you entered an Escape Room and that was the Delve :open_mouth: The higher tiers the harder the clues are to solve like a trivia game setting in a way.

Cube like escape room leading into another room, and eventually it ends in some unique way. Or well it could take cues from actual escape rooms and the movies even.

Or perhaps the Escape Room is class themed or role themed a bit too.

Like I said, having a choice in the delves would be nice. Sometimes I prefer puzzles, sometimes I just want to get the thing done without any real thought.

The chests arenā€™t empty unless you ran out of lives by dying too often. So there is still always treasure at the end if you stay alive.

I agree with you completely. Part of why I need breaks away from WoW occasionally is because the mindless killing just gets old. Sometimes I want something that causes me to think or work things out. I donā€™t want everything to be, ā€œlearn mechanics, kill, repeatā€ over and over and over in every delve, in every dungeon, in every raid, etc. It just gets old when that is the only gameplay offered. Having traps (Iā€™m so-so on those) in addition to puzzles (Iā€™ll take the traps if it means I can have more puzzles, lol) then Iā€™m all in!! Just somewhere I can play a bit differently for a while but still hang with my guild and chat.

Also, something many people never consider, for folks like myself who have various kinds of physical handicaps itā€™s really nice to have a change of pace and to not have to work as hard physically to keep up with the game. Just speaking from a personal level, I get hand tremors which can ruin a boss fight. So, if theyā€™re worse on one day over another then it would be great to have a different kind of gameplay that requires less dexterity but more brain power.

So, thereā€™s my ten cents, or more.

Fun Fact that made running Delves way more fun for me:
A lot of those traps damage enemies.

The spores are all enemy killing mines.
The big guys that run down the hallways? They will pancake the other mobs. Even eachother if you time it right.
The exploding vials that spawn blobs? They will absolutely will nuke the other mobs too.
The Skardyn guys that blow up when they die? They damage the spider people 100%.

Makes running them WAY faster too.
