Deleted character

Hi there,

I have a level 60 Shaman that was deleted some time ago. It’s available on the undeleted list.

Last week I attempted to undelete this character(with another character already using that name), and I got an error, no character undeleted and a cooldown. I contacted support, and they said I couldn’t undelete a character with the same name, fine. They said I have to wait the 7 day cooldown to try again, fine.

I’ve waited 7 days, I’ve deleted the live character, with the intention of undeleting the Shaman, paying for a name change and undeleting the Paladin in 7 days.

However, as I impatiently waited for the cooldown to finish, once it had, I deleted the Paladin, and attempted to undelete the Shaman.

Low and behold, another error, both the Shaman and the Paladin remain deleted and I’ve incurred another 7 day cooldown.

Please sort this issue. I pay my monthly fee along with everyone else, and this is just frustrating.

If none of the limitations are met, and you’re able to restore a character, but can’t, next best option is to submit a ticket, as CS can’t do anything.

I’ve done all of the above.

There isn’t much this form can do in regards to this kind of thing - this isn’t a means to get a toon undeleted on your behave or post about bug reports.

Then there isn’t much here that can be done. Next best option is to submit a ticket. Keep in mind, Game Masters would be under the same limitations as the player, so if they’re not able to do anything, then there is nothing that can be done, apart from waiting another 7 days.

They appear to be. They can escalate, and have done in the past.

I appreciate the help, but I refuse to believe there’s nothing they can do. If not themselves, their superiors.

As someone that has worked in the gaming industry, it seems a bit silly that they’d impose physical limitations on themselves, when from a developers POV it doesn’t make much sense.

Anyhow, i’m rambling, upset and off wow atm. Thank y’all for your help.

To be frank, your belief isn’t a requirement on such. They can only escalate when its beyond the level of the people at that given moment, it isn’t a request to do such, otherwise everyone want their issue escalate non-stop when it isn’t in their favor.

More to the point, this forum isn’t a bypass for the ticket system, nor for feedback/bug reports on maters when it comes to in-game issue for the most part. Regardless of your own job at a given place.

The cooldown is hard coded, can not be bypassed and pretty much is in place to make players consider their actions. Hence, the cool down.

If the devs gave the GM’s every tool to make any change at their disposals, we’d be looking at ticket times rocketing into weeks and beyond.

I am sorry, but there are no GMs here so this is not a means to reach CS service. The Support forum serves as an Information Desk to help folks navigate the support and ticket system, explain policies, explain services etc.

If there are any Blues around today they may be able to look at your character status, explain what might have happened with the failure to properly restore the character, and why your latest set of actions is not having the effect you want. They can hopefully give advice on what options you have.

It is helpful to them if you identify the characters you are talking about. Be specific and give the char name and server for each. That helps them find them and check status so they can let you know what options you have. You can edit your first post to add the char-server names as part of your explanation.

I’ve constantly said I’m not looking for any type of solution, just offering my own thoughts. People can’t seem to fathom someone else believing in something other than what they do.

I’m happy to go on my merry way, none of y’all seem to though :stuck_out_tongue:

As for the code, I have as much access as all of y’all, which is to say none. So as far as our “theories” go, they’re just that.

I don’t see your char name and server for the impacted chars. The Blues here, if they are in today, can see your tickets but it is best to just have the info in one place. It makes it much easier for them to find the specific characters you are talking about.

Keep in mind, you are not guaranteed a reply here. It is mostly a volunteer Information Desk. Often you will get one though if the info is not already provided to you by players, or if they have something they can add.

Oh. well if that is the case then there is no point in making the thread here. If you don’t want info and how to proceed in accomplishing your goal then this whole thread is pointless. If your goal is to vent or to make suggestions that the system and policies should change, then you would want to write that up and post on General Discussion, or move this thread there by editing your first post. Change the drop down menu to General Discussion. That will actually get seen by the Devs who set the policies regarding name changes and cooldowns. The Community Managers there are tasked to pass on feedback. CS is not a feedback route.

I actually thought they had gotten rid of the time limit. I undeleted 3 characters last week and each time the warning said “you can only undelete one character every” I guess there is some kind of major glitch happening.

I was about to comment about that as well my character undelete cooldown is currently nonexistent and has been since they announced character restoration was going to be locked out for sometime once pre patch hits.

I thought it was intentional not a bug so people could get all their character before they ran out of time.
