Delete upgrade system

They should totally remove the gear upgrade system. Remember when you got an item drop and boom you were done with it for the rest of the season at least. Now we have all these dumb different tracks of gear like adventure, hero, mythic etc.

Then you have all sorts of different crests based on the difficulty you do and then you also have valorstones. Then once you get to a certain upgrade point you need like 15 of one type of crest and 30 of another and valorstones for all of it. People have literally made spreadsheets of the system.

Enough of this over complicated system and just make gear have a set item level per difficulty that you can’t get higher like how it use to be in the game for years and years before this dumb upgrade system. Ever heard of KISS? Keep it simple stupid. Absolutely no reason to make something more complex when it was working just fine with how gearing use to be.

I like the upgrade system in concept, but it could do without having 17 million different currencies to upgrade stuff.

I personally like the gear upgrade concept but that eight of eight crap that they did just absolutely ruined it

So you get the currency and you spend the currency getting your gear upgraded and then the second you get it spent and upgraded the game gives you a replacement which means you just wasted all of that currency

When I said in here a year or so ago that I would like to see upgradable gear I was talking about perpetually upgradable until you got to the current cap.

And then if you wanted to keep that same piece of gear when they increase the cap you could still just keep spending the currency on that same piece of gear so theoretically you can have the same set of upgradable gear for the entire expansion if you so chose

Instead they gave us this eight of eight monstrosity that I refuse to even spend any currency on I won’t even upgrade it at all
It’s literally just a waste of my time because like I said the second I get it upgraded to seven or even eight the game is going to replace it within 10 minutes so I just wasted all that time and effort

Yep, like going back to the original upgrade system in MoP: Valor. Seriously, what was wrong with having 1 currency for all things gear related?

Or was it 2? Think it was JP and Valor. We should go back to that.

Always preferred for gear to simply drop, feels more rewarding to me and more simple.
But they seem to like warforging/titanforging and upgrades systems because it let people more easily progress into content. Without systems like that you can’t really overgear as much current content which is why I think upgrades systems have a good goal.

Then I may be thinking of the wrath system.

And no the different difficulties should be seperate. Should not get bis gear from trivial content.

MoP was simply you get Valor everywhere (heroic scenarios, raids, heroic dungeons), and you could use it to either buy gear or upgrade your epics. I think MoP was the xpac that got rid of JP. Or it was removed in Cata. Can’t remember.

I like the upgrade system but I don’t like having multiple currencies.

I think there should be one singular currency not valor + crests… just crests or just valor.

I also think they should use the same crests for all reward tracks but the higher the reward track your item is the more crests it takes for each upgrade level while at the same time higher difficulty content should reward more crests for doing that content.

I don’t like or believe in the artificial barriers to power progression. The best players don’t need power progression they need challenge. The power upgrades are there to empower the weakest players to progress through the content.

I could go either way on upgrades existing at all. But the current mixed system where the crests don’t match the gear track doesn’t make any sense to me.

The reason we have all this angst right now is because people are getting Hero-track gear, but can’t upgrade them to max. And that 4/6 “hole” they’re staring at is driving them nuts.

It would make more sense to me to:
Have Myth-track require Gilded and only Gilded.
Have Hero-track require Runed and only Runed.
Have Champ-track require Carved and only Carved.
Have Vet-track required Weathered and only Weathered.

The same place you got the item, is where you get the upgrade components.

Get rid of the overlap.

This is a no from me. The gear upgrade system may be clunky, but it does happen to serve a purpose, including gearing people up when they aren’t otherwise lucky in getting a new item to drop from raids/mythics/delves/etc. I would prefer to have it be crests only, but the need for valor stones helps push players to do more world content.

Blizzard remembers… all the un-subs after people were “done” early on in a season. Why on earth do you think they put this tread-mill “get the same item and upgrade it again” kind of system? For the fun? No, they did it for the sub revenue… they have an incentive to keep us on a treadmill.

I like it, it can still be improved upon though.

New WoW player: Needs some endless grind like AP or endless gear upgrading or random bad RNG collecting or key pushing.

Old WoW player: Stops progressing after the last boss of the raid is killed. Repeats on an alt or does PVP.
