Ah red flag post, when a supposed “new player” asks about some flamebait topic that isn’t even being discussed at the moment.
Gee, when I was a new player, I was too busy playing the game to do research on the history of flamebait topics.

Okay? I was just asking a question I never experienced master loot before
Only some people that want to hold some kind of power and control overs others in a video want it back.
I mean honestly, that’s fine.
If we rock up to raid with zero Hunters and a bow drops, that’s on us. If Blizzard add like 5 bows and 4 pairs of Warglaives to the loot table, yeah, that’d be annoying.
But not needing loot that drops feels way better than needing loot that drops, but being unable to trade it because of PL restrictions.
I fully expect something like that is in the cards.
So how is it you even know enough about master loot to ask why people want it back if you know nothing whatever about it?
Didn’t even bother to switch to a toon with low post count/achievements lol. Real 0 effort stuff

I mean I kind of sorted new I started in bfa I believe? So I never experienced masterloot before
Big I said it in the interview, but you know people will magically forget that part
I’m asking why people want it back so I can get an idea of why it was good and bad? Is that so hard to understand I don’t understand why you think this is bait to be honest. I never experienced masterloot before so I’m asking a question? Edit: if you think this is a flame bait post then move on not difficult you can also mute the thread too if you choose to.
We’ll happily compromise for full control over what to do with our own loot.
Master Loot was a way for Players to hold loot over other players heads. To claim loot before it even dropped. To be able to withhold loot from people they felt were undeserving.
Guilds who work together suffer under the restrictions of trading loot, preventing people who want to give up items they don’t need to those who do need them.
IDC about PuGs, that can stay PL; but I have witnessed the problems of this system amongst a group of cohesive players trying to effectively outfit their raid for progress.
There was talk of putting smart loot that PL has onto ML, so no hunters, no bows. Who knows, there are ups and downs.
The issue was that up until Legion it was poorly implemented. A raid leader could change the loot mid-fight, take the items and then leave. Because of things like cross-realm raiding it became an issue. If implemented correctly through, ML would be for guild-only runs so it wouldn’t affect pugs and there would be zero risk of ninjas (which seems to be the only valid complaint).
As for RLs showing favouritism, that’s entirely a social problem. ML allowed them to do it, but guild members instead of talking about it with officers or finding a better guild seem (according to GD) to have just sat in those guilds for years while the RLs girlfriend etc got loot.
For what it’s worth, ML is the only loot system in Classic, and there are precisely 0 issues with it. Join a guild or pug with clear loot rules, follow the rules, and if you have issues discuss with officers like adults.
Thank you for the answer I appreciate it anyways probably going to either delete the thread or put it on mute since I got enough answers and an idea on what it is
There are currently threads that pop up about it and the game directory is even suggesting its return. I wonder why a player who never experienced it would ask questions.
I was 2 years old when vanilla WoW released. I’m currently 20 right what I think 2 years ago can’t remember when bfa launched I really got into WoW. I wasn’t here for the older expansions anyways going sleep now night all
I understand hun. It’s just some people in this game have the mentality everyone has shared their experiences so asking questions gets them uppity.
But previously these items could still be DE’d which benefited the guild, because those mats would then be used for enchants or strong crafted items. In fact, with the release of new tiers in classic there are still guilds who run things like Kara or heroics to get their hands on a lot of items that can be DE’d so that when players get new gear they can upgrade it there and then.
Yes and no. When they introduced PL, it was found that because of things like M+ and high drop rates guilds were gearing pretty quickly. They decided to reduce the rate of drops as a result to keep players ‘engaged’ in these longer raid tiers.
Not true at all. I raid to kill bosses, and loot happens to be a happy bonus. The system works amazingly well in TBC and loot priority is given to players who show up to raid each week or gain more from an item (eg: If one player has a caster 1h they get priority on an OH but are lowest on priority for a 2h). I have no control of any loot that drops for my raid, but I still want ML back because it’s just a better system provided your guild leaders/officers actually put in 5 minutes of effort.
