It is infuriating that they would switch their minds to appease anyone that will pay. Whatever Chromie is, they would back out of it on a dime if it meant losing a large enough amount of their paying players.
It’s all about the money, not about the inclusion. So that’s why I’m always saying **** it, I’ll take what makes me feel happy and screw the rest.
I hope for all accounts they continue to keep it vague and just let people feel what they want to feel. Feminine, tomgirl, trans, drag queen, a cis guy that just has a female avatar, I want it left to whatever because that’s when it works for everyone.
If he identifies as female then he wouldn’t use his male name at all as a Dragon, even though he’s referred to as a she then as well. But he refers himself with his own male name instead of coming up with a female one or even simply changing the U at the end of Chronormu to an I.
With these factors of gender separated explicitly, if he identifies as his visage form, as female with it, then maybe he doesn’t even identify as a Dragon anymore since he doesn’t bother doing anything with making his Dragon form more female. I mean with all the magic of the world of Warcraft, I’m sure he’d change his voice even as a Dragon if he wanted to easy. Even with just his own Time magic, distort the pitch, something, but he doesn’t.
If he identifies as an eccentric female Gnome who can do Time magic, that’s not transgender. That’s identifying as an eccentric female Gnome who can do Time magic, because he’s still male in literally every other sense as a Dragon.
I’m just saying what is canonically shown and even done by him [or not done], if you believe Chromie is trans then by all means. But don’t use vague and indirect, even avoidant statements from Blizzard as fact to back it up.
“They are not limited to appearing as humanoids—for example, they can also take on the appearance of proto-dragons or disguise themselves as part of a tree …”
anything danuser says can’t be taken seriously lol. the dude is so bad i can only laugh and at the end of the day wow is fake you can tell yourself whatever you want and believe but the next person done told themselves what they wanted and totally thinks your full of it. i’m honestly curious as much as you guys talk about this stuff is your real life conversations like this nonstop. me and all the lgbt people i know got way more interesting things to talk about than whether this person is gay or hey there trans lol. y’all seriously need to get a life.
Rather bold assumption. That isn’t actually necessarily true though.
Pretty concrete evidence right there. Aaaaaand for some reason we’re just moving on as if it isn’t. It’s getting weird already.
It isn’t difficult to imagine a dragon who becomes attached to mortals and decides to stay in their mortal form semi-permanently in order to live with them. Nor is it difficult to imagine them choosing not to identify themselves to the random folks they meet in mortal towns as a dragon.
Bold to assume with basically no evidence that Chromie just happens to have that power. And what makes you think a trans/gender fluid person would never use and must necessarily hate their normal voice?
…Incoherent.
You mean more or less direct word of god? This is starting to look less like horse blinders and more like mental gymnastics and phobic behavior.
Hypothetically does not mean she was ever a tree. Not once in the lore have I ever found that she was a tree. If someone wishes to prove me incorrect, then I welcome the correction!
I assume his poor point in that was trying to claim it does not make Chromie trans. Which is not how things work. Chromie changed her pronouns for BOTH forms.
Really? Because literally every transgender that fully identifies with the gender opposite to what they were assigned to at birth will refuse to be named or labeled by literally anything of the gender they are not as much as possible. This really only works if it’s a unisex name. Chronormu is legit defined by the male nomenclature of his Flight. Dead naming is a term literally born from this kind of egregious oversight that countless true transgenders get suicidal over even.
Nothing is stopping Chronormu from referring to himself as Chronormi. Chronormi sounds beautiful, I literally don’t know why he doesn’t. Hmmm…
Come on, you walk around tons of cis gender males that play female characters and don’t even care that everyone refers to them as she/her because of this. I myself as a born intersex who identifies completely as male, even I can enjoy being referred with female pronouns or titles at times. Who’s to say his visage literally isn’t just an avatar while he’s still the male behind the screen, for analogy, even despite pronouns as I’ve stated with myself and others like me?
I agree with this.
The factor of the gender, switching to a female Gnome, is obsolete when he maintains everything else male about him outside of it, save for the pronoun. Pronouns as I’ve stated above as an intersex who identifies as male and sometimes likes female titles and such for myself whilst still identifying as male, does not determine the core gender they identify with.
No. I just want to see the words “Chromie” and “Transgender” in the same sentence from Blizzard themselves. If anyone’s playing mental gymnastics, it’s them. They want to test the waters and see if inclusion will rake in more paying players or drive away a large chunk of them. It’s all about the money, not the inclusion.
Really. I promise you that not every trans/gender fluid person changes their name. Especially the gender fluid crowd.
And yet none of them have magically transformed themselves into girls, transitioned into being girls, or so much as presented themselves as girls in the real world. You know, the thing Chromie is doing. Can you fathom how enormous the difference between playing a female character in a video game and altering your body to become a woman and living your life that way happily is, and how uncomfortable it would be for the average cis male?
People tell lots of jokes about how if they woke up as a girl they’d do this and that, but only because they’ve never experienced gender dysphoria before. Really, a certain level of gender fluidity is REQUIRED to be able to tolerate something like that in the long term.
…People have been complaining for years about needing to be told that a character is queer instead of shown. This is an instance of being shown instead of told. Would you rather them pull a Rowling and just tweet about some random character being queer?
And yeah, companies are not moral agents. Nobody needs to be told this. Nobody should expect otherwise. Money aligning with inclusion is literally capitalism working correctly to produce good outcomes. It means being decent to trans people is popular enough that companies consider it worth exploring. All of that is good.
If Chromie, as a dragon, decided to change her biological male form to a biological female form, she would be female.
But still not trans.
There is a reason why the phrases transman and transwoman are used as opposed to just man or woman when describing the transgender situation. Because transmen and transwomen are not able to be full biological men and women. I am sure one day a full body mod will be possible but today is not that day.
Chromie can be a full biological man or a full biological woman in either form because she is magical!
But hey, if Blizzard wants to grab some social credit by pretending the two situations are the same and actual transfolks are good with it, despite the fact that is fails to respect and demonstrate the weight and issues and compromises being trans carries, who cares.
I never followed the lore, Chromie was always the cute little female gnome to me. So I would never think of her as male, even back in Dragon form. And let’s be real, all dragons look the same so it isn’t like she was a “manly” looking dragon.
