Would people really want to drag them out that long? I guess guild or friend runs who agree wouldn’t mind maybe, but for PUGs you’d probably still have the “let’s goooooo” guy in most groups who resorts to trolling because you’re not going fast enough. lol

I PUG at least a key per week on every class. I see very little overall toxicity, even if runs aren’t particularly successful. Sure, toxic happens…as it does in literally every group content

And M+ didn’t invent the “go go go” mentality, or big pulls. That’s been in the game for a loooooong time

Tons of people will spend 8 hours a week queueing for/doing LFR because they deem it easier. I put nothing past people in regards to wasting time.

Fair point. lol

if the timer went away, for lower keys, then it would be enjoyable.

but it wouldnt do anything in regards to the toxicity

Because it annoys people like you.

Because it is content with the highest participation. There are many people, myself included, that would effectively have no reason to continue subscribing were it removed.

I took a new alt into RFC, it was LFD. This was before the level squish so I believe it was a level 10. I was learning a class I was playing for the first time.

After the first boss, someone says “C’mon DPS, you can do better”

This was not toxic. It was not abusive. But it also wasn’t particularly helpful. I take a new toon and dip my toes into the babiest part of the baby end of the pool, and I get criticized. I didn’t even make any mistakes like aggroing too much stuff and causing a wipe.

Am I too thin-skinned, getting butthurt at the mildest criticism? Maybe.

But I can only imagine how much the criticism is intensified at Mythic+ level. (I can only imagine it, because I’ve never done M+.)

And I imagine the intense criticism is a turnoff to new players and they say “forget this” and don’t resub.

The answer is not to delete Mythic+. The answer is to add a training mode for dungeons and raids, with NPCs running you through, so you can practice without being a nuisance on real players.

Then by the time you show up to M+ you should be reasonably competent. And criticism for lacking basic competence will be completely valid.

I know there’s an expectation that you should ALREADY be reasonably competent by the time you show up for M+. But there is not enough opportunity to gain this competence.

I’ll give you an example, if in LFD in Shadowlands I die (due to my own fault, it’s not the healer’s job to keep me alive through my own extreme incompetence). I rez and run back into the dungeon. But the group went on without me and I can never catch back up with them. They didn’t need me, they’re perfectly capable of doing it with a 4-man team. I try to catch up but the NPCs they didn’t clear catch me and kill me again before I can catch up.

So I can never get the experience and practice I need, because, literally, even LFD is too hard for me.

So, my response to this experience is to say, “forget it, I just won’t do dungeons at all.” There’s a lot I like to do in the game other than dungeons and raids, so that’s fine for me. But a new player is more likely to say, “forget it, I won’t resub.”

The game really needs a training mode for dungeons and raids. A training mode where NPCs join you, like the 3-man teams in Proving Grounds where you could try a new spec. This would help new players and keep the resub rate higher.

Being completely honest here, there is far more toxicity such as you mentioned in Normal/Heroic dungeons.

LOL from my perspective in LFD, they just ignore me. They don’t even bother to kick me. Don’t even make fun of me in chat. Just keep right on going like I didn’t exist.

Rp is pretty toxic, i was told i can’t be a half elf half dragon scarlet crusader

You mean raid. Raids created and fostered it.

Also competition. Any kind, really. And don’t forget human nature. Boy culture.

It’s a mixed bag for sure, but I can say with all honesty I have seen DPS ridicule each other, or the tank ridicule the DPS or whatever far far more frequently in non M+ content. Also meter-whoring is way more common in non M+ as well.

No. M+’s are super fun. You should try them with some friends.

anything with a timer is not fun

So don’t do it. Or ignore the timer, it’s just for a bonus. A lot of people enjoy it.

Lmao, so you are basing this thread on experience from a single M+ from legion? That says it all.

/thread

Interesting take.
How about no?

You don’t have to play it if you don’t like it. No one is holding a gun to your head.
