Definition: Pathfinder (Blizzard Defined)

Wow, people are still crying about pathfinder?

I don’t mind something like an extended quest chain to unlock flying, but the way they do Pathfinder seems excessive for what it is. Flying has a huge use when leveling and while I don’t think the ability to fly should e given for nothing, not letting us even to have the option of flying while doing late leveling is an issue that I would like to see reworked.

Maybe an extended quest chain that can be completely finished at 113 or 114 and let us have the last five or six levels with flying. If your going to gate it past 120 and require Loremaster, Explorer, and rep grind; at least only make us do it once and unlock it for our alts after that.

It would have to be right next to Titanforge, LFR, Warmode, WPvP, High Elf…damn, that field would have to take up half the zone. :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

The the question is. Around Bill O’Reilly do Beyblades work?

Back on topic. I really do believe blizzard thinks that flying allows people to skip their Zone design I just wish it would allow people to fly sooner.

The zone design wasnt that bad legion and bfa… No huge mointains with no paths… And legion gliders were great in stormhiem.

That’s what I’m going to be doing this time, but my expansion will still cost me more $$/time than yours will if I come back. It does have the benefit of letting me try out FF14, Square is doing flight better and that’s where my money will go.

I got a hair ranty in my response. Sorry about that. The point i started out making was, no its not disengenous to make the argument that if you are for not flying but then fly when its available that makes you a hypocrit no matter your excuse.

If you like time gated pathfinder thats fine, but lets not sit here and pretend thats the argument at hand. Anti fliers have this weird mind set where they dont want the choice in the game and buy whatever garbage line Blizz feeds them to regurgitate back onto these forums in defense of Blizz aweful design decisions…

I have not once seen anyone that is fine with pathfinder say that they want flying out of game period. I have however seen people that do similar to what you did and say people that are ok with how pathfinder is are the ones that are anti flying, or could just go run around on ground mounts. That argument is disingenous because you are saying they want forever to limit themselves when the option is out there otherwise. That they solely want ground mounts and thats all. That is actually the classic fanbois dude, not the “pro-pathfinder” people. People that are ok with pathfinder simply are fine with delay in implementation of flying until later in an expansion. That is it. Not anti flying, not anti anything, they are just fine playing the game one way before it is forever changed.

But see, if that were the case then they would make pathfinder unlockable on day 1.

Grinding the same boring world quests for almost a year does not make me more familiar with the zone. I know it well enough by doing the initial story questing. I learn absolutely nothing about the zone doing world quests until I’m sick of hearing those same callouts over and over.

And that’s exactly the point. They only want to release pathfinder once you have no further use of it. Once you’ve grinded out those world quests a billion times over and just stop doing them because they have no rewards for you. THAT is when they release it. And that is why pathfinder is not a compromise. You only unlock it once the you have nothing left to do in the zone.

And i can atleast respect that opinion. I disagree but i can atleast respect a consistent opinion. Again though you and i seem to be reading the overarcing conversation differnetly. Not just our exchange but the conversation as a whole. I read it as its pretty much been since WoD. Anti fliers dont want to fly but then the same folks fly when it comes available. That makes them hypocrits. Thats not a disengenous argument to make.

The only time I have seen anyone mentioning the WoD aspect is Ion wanting to remove flying. I have honestly, aside from classic players and Ion, seen anyone want flying removed for good.
If i had I would argue them too, as that is asinine. Nothing wrong with flying in game, but yes it needs delayed, day 1 flying is boring. You have no danger of dying. You have no danger of pulling too much. Things are too fast and the world is smaller.

Okay, no lie… I’m kind of looking forward to that.

I have seen a few of them. They are def a minority here.

I hear ya there, my buggest preference would be Pathfinder part 1 then unlock it. By the time i got Pathfinder part 1 i was already pretty much unkillable in the world outside of PvP which i only participated in WM due to lolhorde mode.

My larger thoughts on the issue tho is two of the best expansions Blizz ever made was designed with flying in mind. Not during leveling but at max level and it was required to get to some content and some reps designed around it. Imo it made the world feel bigger to me. Icecrown still feels like such a massive zone to me. And you bet your butt it felt dangerous when i landed.

In shadowlands the levels are being squished. World quests are changing to world quest 2.0. Reputation is changing. That means that patchfinder has to change as well or else all the changes in shadowlands is going to waste.

As should ALL LFR hate threads…but that aint happening either.

and whose fault is that?
the game maker who apparently isnt talented enough to take their own game mechanics into account when CREATING new content.
they COULD write the game more in the Star wars way of combat instead of the star trek so we’d HAVE to be fighting at the destination instead of forcing busy work on us having to fight every stinking piece of world trash along the way…but hey…thats just my creative mind at work.
And making that world trash WORTH fighting might actually make us WANT to do it.
Ive gotten so seriously awesome little items that have dropped from world trash in MOP.
Pretty much nothing but pocket lint from the trash in BFA, so why would I want my game time wasted with fighting it?

This is ALL on blizzard…the game maker…for not being talented enough to write content using their own game mechanics from day one.

I am more or less a wrath baby dude, aside from some leveling in TBC, and really, icecrown wasn’t dangerous after what…tourney time? until they launched the ICC dungeons. I remember them being more dangerous after that

…you realize fighting TO quests and mob grinding have always been a part of WoW right? That is something all the classic fanbois wanted soooo much…<,<

You’ve not seen anyone say they wish flying was removed? Check in every single thread made about flying and you’ll find one or two.

So if there are many many people responding (which there are) one or two being the very minority there, how would that be something to assume everyone close to that stance be chalked up to. That is like saying all muslims are the violent kind…

It’s not hard to read through the whole thread. I’ve kept up with 1k+ post threads over a period of a few days
