…considering someone could easily get part 1, stop subscribing until part 2 comes along, resub then work on it when that patch comes, how exactly is that prolonging gameplay?
Kick your addiction and unsub if you don’t like it. Flight Simulator 2020 will be out before Shadowlands next year.
It’s actually just a compromise added in when casuals whines about not flying in WoD.
If they didn’t have to endure the backlash, flying wouldn’t be around for some of these world zones. Flying immediately for zones is also just an insanely terrible idea, also typically held by casuals.
Flying is typically around for 70% of an expansion now too so it’s not even like people need to wait that long either.

The OP.
Get outta here with your logic. GD is a no logic zone.
It takes like 2 weeks…TOPS
Hardly a timegate if I can achieve it within the month I paid for game play…
Apparently in GD it is always sunday
Cancel your subscription and just save yourself. Why do you people keep playing since apparently you hate the game so much.
And beating a dead horse.
Read the Pathfinder requirements (WoWhead has a nice summary). All the requirements require a time investment, by definition. That’s how Pathfinder prolongs gameplay.
It only prolongs it if you are specifically paying to do Pathfinder. Otherwise it is content you do while you would be subbed anyway. It does not make you stay subbed any longer than you would naturally.
Love the game hate Pathfinder. Pathfinder wasn’t an issue before it was introduced. Thousands of continuing posts demonstrate that it will continue to be an issue until it’s removed.
Your argument would suggest that you should never work to improve a product you care about. And, it’s not some minority opinion. If you watched the Q&A where Ion mentions that Pathfinder will continue he was soundly booed by the community. I, personally, love WoW and hate all decisions and game systems that have led to things like WoD and BFA. It’s actually quite simple to fix, we just need a new vision at the top.
It would only prolong play if you decided to stop playing after hitting max level. Also since you cannot work to part 2 until it is released, actually once you had part one, you could just unsub for a while, and be done. No prolonging at all…your argument makes no sense
Why is it a better option to unsub because things are tedious? Wouldn’t the better option be to keep people subbed with a feature they love?
I never started taking breaks from wow until this war on flying started.
Apparently not since they haven’t removed Pathfinder.
This goes back to my reasoning of it being spiteful. It’s clear how popular flying is yet they keep it locked away for so long.
Spiteful doesn’t pay the bills. If it were a true detriment to their profit margins, it would change. It did in WoD.
Are we going to do this every expansion?
Yes.
I agree that it hasn’t hit their bottom line but what other reason could they possibly have to gate flying?
