Define evil

Basically evil is going against societal norms to an extreme degree and so far out of bounds of moral norms it’s shocking.

Yup. disgusting. Taking some kind of pleasure in harming someone emotionally or physically because you’re so freaking miserable? I can’t write here what I think about those kind of people.

I stay away from moral explanations. It is like watering a plant. Good are actions that cause the plant to prosper and evil actions are like salting the plant.

Rather than good and evil, I see helpful and harmful.

Well, evil to me is a matter of perspective. For example, others might find you evil because you believe the dracthyr joke isn’t a big deal or you could be doing something nice for someone believing you are doing the right thing and some might find you evil for doing so. But evil is just believing you are doing the right thing, same with good.

I think it can be understood as knowing what is goodness is and then doing otherwise in spite of it.

Evil is entirely subjective and a result of upbringing, culture, religion, and personal opinion.

There ARE things that are pretty universally agreed to be evil, but most of them probably aren’t allowed to be mentioned here.

surely somethings wouldn’t be labeled as ‘subjective’?!

Weekly 4 hour outages. Calling something a …phobia because one does not agree with it; one of the greatest generic evil definitions of all times.

Again depends on culture and upbringing. What we may view as evil, may be acceptable and normal for some cultures. Just as an example let’s take what happened with the Donnor Party. That act is viewed as evil by many cultures, but it was also an act of survival. For some cultures it’s also a ritualistic act and also a way of honoring the person and preserving their “knowledge” to try and condense it down.

That one is a matter of perspective.

I know, I know. Technicalities. Is that the right word to use? It just blows my mind on what humanity accepts or is brainwashed into.

Evil comes in many types and forms

Minor evil. Your selfish and lie but wont go out of your way to do harm

Moderately evil. Still selfish and liar and might do harm if you think you can get away with it.

Evil evil. Very selfish still lies will do harm to get what you want/need

Then we have the cause of evil

Revenge. Killing others for wrongs done to you or loved ones. Evil in so much as most societies see taking the law into your own hand abhorrent.

Broken. Something about you didnt turn out right, and you cant help yourself

Nihilistic. Whats it matter it all ends some day

Road to hell. You dirty your hands so others dont have to

While many of these are vague they are good to base rp around and not a philosophy term paper on.

Also my favorite pc villian quote “you fear me because I wield my fate like a sword!”

The world “live” but backwards

I think that we had a fingers stumble here, but I get what you were typing. However, to me the saying has always been wrong. It should be " others are too lazy or cowardly to." In other words they will not get off their asses and serve their country. Note that I am not saying the government, but their country. I have heard too many use that hack " I would not serve this government . . ." and that is not the point of serving your country.
