I wish people would get the idea that it’s like Arathi Basin out of their head. Yes, it has 5 bases like Arathi, other than that, the game play is extremely different.
First off, you can’t get to a base quickly like in Arathi. It’s actually fairly easy to navigate around Arathi because we can jump off the cliff from LM to BS. Jump off the cliff and drop down to mines. The only difficult thing to do is get from mines to LM or LM to mines. In a random battleground it’s easy to get to mines from LM with a goblin glider. But still, it’s way quicker to navigate around AB.
The difficult thing about Deepwind is the navigation. It’s best to keep two people at a base. And call incs IMMEDIATELY. If there is a teamfight happening at Quarry and ONE person is defending Shrine and calls inc, well, Shrine is gone. A different strategy must be used with Deepwind. Communication. Double sitting a base. And a few people riding along on the roads waiting for inc calls. Because it’s not easy to get to a base fast to help.
Also, the initial fight at Market is not very important. People wrongly think that it’s a base that is needed, but like getting the flag in EOTS, it’s not extremely important and can actually be left alone if you have a team that can communicate properly.

Well said Prosperinah. It’s different and requires more defense on flag. People hate guarding flags.
I liked it better before.
Guarding shrine today, the damn trees fill my camera as I camera spin to look around. They need to take them down shorter, super annoying.

They changed the entire BG because they couldn’t just give tanks a debuff when carrying the freakin cart.

Its actually brilliant.
You require communication to call incs. You cant just see if your base has incoming.
It takes time to get from one node to another.
The walls around the middle with funnelled entrances add an interesting dynamic.
The various bases have interesting structures to utilise your way around.

Regardless of what the random BG heroes say, yes it’s a worse version of AB.
Encourages turtling and winning off a fast cap with 2v2 bases.
If you wanna see someone coming to your base, you just have to click through BGE and see nameplates, not that difficult. Terrain has no use in this game.

Old DWG was a lot better. it had more unique aspects to it and had a higher skillcap with the ability to manipulate points on the board holding the cart and the resources of your team being used to either help run the cart or return it, or take or hold a base. I see zero reason for it to have changed to another map of flags to cap and hold.

I liked the old version better but am warming up to the new version. There’s always a natural resistance to change.
New map requires a more defensive posture and a roving gang in between flags ready to defend (or assault if you only have two flags capped).
