Declined when joining Mythic, Using key takes an hour to form group

If I use my key and use the LFG tool, it takes an hour. You can’t even CHOOSE a tank or even heals, you have to invite whoever pops up or you gotta wait 2 hours, then your existing group starts leaving.

If I try to join an existing Mythic+ group, I get declined 99% of the time and also takes an hour to get accepted.

This is so much worse than it was in BFA.

I’m curious but what would your proposed fix for this situation be?

I suggest joining a guild, having friends, maining tank or heals

The problem is that nobody has a solution. I haven’t heard of any.

What key levels are you trying to join?

For better or worse (not the point at this time) people use raiderIO to help decide who to invite and which groups to join. Your IO score is 671 and mostly doing mid-level keys 7-10. When you are being declined, are you attempting to join 10+ keys or 5-8 keys?

I mean it is unfortunate regardless and I appreciate it is frustrating, but right now dungeons are harder than they were in BFA and so meta comps are more dominant. You require a higher IO score or ilvl to get invited over a comparable role since you’re an off meta class.

If you’re not already doing so, you should be forming “IO push” groups at lower key levels of 5-10 and pumping up your score to get easier invites to higher groups. Otherwise you’re assumed to be just a carry, and people won’t invite a carry or join the group. The alternative is to find a group of likeminded people through forums or guilds and create a channel where you can form groups without being in a guild.

Join a guild or make some friends is a good start.

Or, as a Paladin, consider learning healing or tanking as well.

Tank or heal as a paladin imo.

Try switching to tank or healer before starting your own group. When I run my own keys as a tank, the group fills within seconds, and practically never takes more than a minute or two. If you start your own key as dps, you’re gonna have a bad time.

tbh the few times i was too lazy to make my own group i intentionally queued as a healer or tank into a pures group. even if there was just the one mage or whatever. if i see a hybrid dps as the only toon in the group and its a dps, nope. that’s really the only “bias” i have though when it comes to pugging. yall can tank or heal so i’m gonna give priority to grouping with people who can’t do either.

With how easy base mythics are, I’m surprised you can’t queue for them via dungeon finder. It’s not like 184 gear is going to blow anything out of the water given that your covenant gear and pvp gear go up to 197.

This is pretty well it lol.
In todays WoW with how things are balanced / scaled in the dungeons getting in as a melee that isn’t a rogue or a DK is near impossible, you either find people to run these dungeons with if you plan to play an off meta spec, or you reroll every patch and follow what’s current to get invites. Other than that your dead in the water, well. not entirely It will just take forever to find groups, basically why I stopped playing my warrior all together, rolled a mage, get invites to groups 99% faster than I ever did on him.

Its the way of WoW now, you can play what you want, if you dont mind being excluded from content, other than that. You play what the guides tell you to play.

Another solution I think Blizzard should do later on is to give all classes at least one tank or healer option. For example:

  • Hunter: Convert Survival to a tank spec.
  • Rogue: Add new Sawbones healer spec, a back alley doctor whose medical credentials may or may not be legitimate.
  • Warlock: Convert Demonology to a tank spec and bring back Dark Apotheosis.
  • Mage: Add new Time healer spec, who manipulates time to reverse his allies’ wounds.

But for now, as a paladin, OP should try tanking or healing.

a lot of ret paladins just want to play ret. to the point when dual spec existed they didn’t buy it. and when we could use all our specs some would /flex they hadn’t even switched specs to select their talents. =\

The cold, hard reality is that there is a surplus of DPS players, and not enough tanks or healers.

If you choose not to make use of the tools available to your class, that’s your problem, not Blizzard’s.

Make it viable for 5 DPS party to be a thing

You’re a Paladin. You can choose both. Don’t give me the “but I wanna DPS.” So do I. But if I want to get a group in 5 mins or less, I heal. Life sucks.

LOL please do. That would make everyone respect their Adult Roles a lot more in normal groups. Punish the DPS with other DPS. Brilliant!

I mean you can do the old school and go into trade and spam for a group.

Guilds and friends solve your problems

tank or heal and your problem will go away

With 671 io and 207 ilvl you can get into groups fine. You didn’t specify what level of keys you’re talking about, but if it’s like +12, yeah you’re gonna struggle. At your ilvl and io score (I’m not that far above you) I could get into 8’s and 9’s pretty easily and 10’s if I really tried.

Edit: I guess my only advice would be try to stay ahead of the io and gear curve a little harder next content patch. Push yourself to 6, 7, 8, etc before you are super comfortable.
