Declined Interest

I bought Shadowlands and a faction change about 1 week ago. I am about halfway finished with the Ravendreth main storyline and have a level 59 monk. If I could refund both, I would.

The overall feel of this expansion seems another repeat of Legion and BFA. It’s quality is the same but with a compelling storyline.

The zones and music are superior, as they had always been. Everything else beyond is a greedy system design under the guise of “quality.”

I take hits every now and then for being in that guild. Pretty sure it was abandoned a long time ago, but I haven’t bothered to /gquit.

Edit: Pazu, mentioning the letters of my name and those underneath are misleading for the readers. Those who gawk at the name “delusion,” chuckle, and make a conclusion about this post, without reading the post, are disadvantaged. Your post is merely that–a disadvantage to the readers.

Given that you have contributed nothing to the merits of the discussion, I ask the readers to imagine Pazu as a red herring. A smelly, smokey fish smeared on the ground so as to mislead a hound’s path of scent. The readers are the hounds, seeking a path to understanding. And your post, Pazu, is the red herring.

Shadowlands is the best an expansion has felt in 4 years.

I love it.

I agree about the story… Other expansions the story at least kept me engaged… For the most part this expansions story is me not even reading quest text, escaping cut scenes…

Did you begin playing wow during Legion?

Yeah, it feels like they took the worst parts of BfA and Legion and made that into its core experience for SL. I really want to like this expansion, but I can’t even bother to log in since it’s that boring.

I like the storyline , and I expect the jailor is going to do some major havoc on Azeroth.

Being “the arbiter” is no different from being “the champion” in BFA and legion. The story should feel much larger than just myself–the collective whole of players should be referred to as “the arbiters” instead. And approaching the storyline from a collective perspective seems a better way going about the WoW storytelling.

Regardless, the game itself is boring. Peering beyond the shiny shell I find inside no pearls.

betweeen that and the toxic crap of the community , thats why i left

I’ve not found the raids or dungeons boring. In fact raiding with my guild is really the only thing keeping me subbed.

With friends it is fun. Even my friend and I got bored doing dungeon after dungeon.

You still seem to be here.

What would you want? This game has literally always been pvp, dungeons, and raid

sadly blizzard is taking forever to refund me, asked over 5 days ago and still stuck with a sub

I’m not loving this as much as other expansions.
I’m basically in a holding pattern now, I need to wait for the right hall in torghast to get my bis leggo drop

Normally now in an expansion I would be picking an alt to play but I can’t seem to make myself do that

The player is not the Arbiter. Did you not pay any attention to the story at all? The Arbiter is a benevolent and apparantly female (called “she”) divine being who communes with each soul that passes into the afterlife and then determines where that person should spend eternity. Something attacked the Arbiter before we showed up–sometime during Legion’s events–knocking her out cold, and she’s been unresponsive ever since. Souls go directly the Maw, now, denied their rightful afterlife since the Arbiter is no longer guiding souls.

Meanwhile, without souls coming into the various realms of Shadowlands, an anima drought has been wreaking havoc and causing serious damage with eternal consequences all over the afterlife. Corruption is rife, and it all began with the loss of the Arbiter.

The Jailer is the shady big bad. He’s got many mortals and immortals working for him, and he’s enslaved a being called “The Runecarver.” He’s been stealing anima and gathering up all of these souls who never should’ve come to the Maw, which is his realm. We don’t yet fully understand his agenda, but he’s evil and is at the root of all the bad things happening in the Shadowlands.

You (the player) aren’t the Arbiter. You’re the Maw Walker and “champion.”

We mortals who go in and out of the Maw as we please are novel and interesting to the denizens of Shadowlands because prior to our arrival, no one ever escaped the Maw.

Now, after you became the first Maw Walker, many mortals have started to do it. We’ve been pulling people out of the Maw since we arrived.

There are also ethereal beings called the Brokers living in the Shadowlands, and we haven’t figure out what their agenda is, either. We’ve hooked up with a particularly savvy and shady Broker named Ve’nari in the Maw, and she is guiding us ever deeper into disrupting the Jailer’s work. What’s she’s about…we don’t know.

So. I get that you’re bored and don’t like the story, but forgive me for gathering from your post that you didn’t really read or understand the story.

I think it’s a whole lot more interesting and creative and consistent than the BfA additions to lore. It’s also nice to have an expansion in which Jaina and Baine and Thrall and Anduin are bit players we run into now and again instead of being front-and-center pollyannas all the time.
