its like they dont care.
We apply the Deathstalkers Mark with an ST ability then they give us Clear the Witnesses which A) will be absolutely useless on ST unless they juice the damage buff with the interntion of having us use FoK and SS in ST.
And B) CP gain wont matter in the majority of AoE situations.
Flensing Knives? Basic. Hate it. I thought we were stepping away from these kind of damage amp talents, it may as well say âMutilate/Shadowstrike do an additional 20% plague damageâ
Assuming plague damage is nature + shadow
Hunt Them Down has the same aforementioned issue. Youre literally amping the most basic form of damage the most basic way possible. What is this. Id even take a dot from AAs over this cause at least that would symergize with Sin and Sub talents.
Lingering Darkness
This is the talent I hate most. We tried this type of thos with the 10.1 Sin tier set and it sucked. The only saving grace was that the damage amp and duration was high enough for it to crank. What are we supposed to do with 10% amp for 3 seconds after having blown all our cds?
Shroud of Night⊠I just really hate any shroud related talents. Its not big. Theyre all a waste of space that could be replaced by more meaningful talents.
The gameplay loop of Deathstalker is the best of the 3 rogue trees by far. Im hoping we get more talents like Singular Focus between Sin and Sub to get some of that prio damage back wed lost over the years (at least on Sub).
Moment of Despair gonna make Sin M+ not suck the opening patch.
Follow the Blood is gonna ensure we take those aoe talents for aoe situations.
Corrup the Blood rewards properly refreshing dots.
Darkest Night is my favorite talent tho. Refunding 60 energy is insane and it should feel very good to play.

Deathstalker has the most potential followed by Trickster. I think with proper feedback that Deathstalker can be turned into a lean, mean fighting machine of a hero tree. And to an extent Trickster too.
Fatebound? LMAO I say no more.

The first line was more to illustrate how this is our best tree and yet they still didnt put as much effort/passion into its creation as other classes.

i was hoping for a return of slaughter poison and a focus on poisons and bleeds

All of the hero talent trees suck In Comparison to other classes. Itâs lack of interest and or creativity from the developers. Sad.

cloak and dagger also seemed like it would fit deathstalker

They did release it for testing yesterday right? The wowhead talent calc isnât updated yet
The out of touch rogue devs donât know what to do with Rogue?
Iâm shocked. Shocked!
Well not that shocked.
Rogueâs going to suck until the next wave of layoffs and people with actual fresh ideas get to take the positions of the people clinging to the vanilla rogue âidentityâ.
Guess weâll wait for the next expansion and see what new way to get peopleâs hopes up they invent before shoving more crap nobody wants into Rogue because they neither know or care about rogue. âJust add more buttons to push to do the same damage as the guy a 3 button rotation. Rogues like being complex right?â

At the beginning of the expansion when
strike was on the gcd an evoker from my guild was watching me play outlaw in a 20 key . He was shocked at the amount of piano play that was going on and he told me heâs got like a 5 button rotation. We got cds, buffs, rtb to keep track of builders spenders.
Slice and dice should be passive. Thatâs for sure, every spec. Nobody wants to push that button. I donât like pushing it now and itâs basically a passive.

You could prune a good 10-15 abilities from Rogueâs into passives/baseline dps/energy regen increases and the class would be so much more fun to play.

Wowhead only posted datamined talents that may or may not make it to alpha, so I donât think theyâve released anything official yet. Weâll probably get the tree in the next build.

It is available to test, i just spent a good hour on it. Definitely packs a punch and Iâll have to revisit the thread to talk about it but I gotta study.
Quickfire review though:
-
DSMark lasts 30s, refreshes and stacks. You gain 3stacks per ambush/ shadowstrike and it stacks 9x total.
-
accounts for ALL of subterfuge ambushes
-
possible bug not working on blindside (or intended as it isnât true stealth).
-
Cloak DR is nice and will help Assassins (unsure if it overrides feint or stacks as i gotta test more when i get a chance).
-
the amps to mutilate and backstab are impactful and do count based on vicious venoms / deeper daggers etc.
-
the final hit off DSM consumption does add cold blood effect and you get a cool visual for the âim rdy to use itâ as a deathly purple shadow vfx. Paired with symbolic victory and shiv and dfa can lead to a nasty finisher when the rogue plans well.
-
rupture talent stacking its effect does do some big pay out and does affect talents for ampâs respective to both rogue specializations.
(More later but gotta get back to studying).

I think Deathstalker is pretty cool.
Love the idea of plague damage. Perfect for the Deathstalkers of the Forsaken.
Also now playing an apothecary feels better.

I think it is thematic for the Deathstalkers found in and around undercity.
Trickster is kind of thematic too but needs more work.
FateboundâŠis this like a spec designed for cosmic lottery or yahtzee? Do not know lol.

It definitely needs to be tweeked for Sin.
Itâs a game changer for Sub in PvE, imo.

Hunter Hero Talents would like to have a wordâŠ

I tested deathstalker and would like to make a few considerations and suggestions:
Firstly, the concept and theme is really cool, especially involving so much plague. The initial problem is visually, very straightforward, it doesnât give the feeling of being a deathstalker visually, it doesnât have cool effects or anything (a criticism including the rogueâs three hero talents).
I think itâs just me, really like the funnel damage idea that the rogue sub had (it still has a little) so I really liked the singular focus talent (it needs some adjustments, but the idea is cool).
In relation to the other talents, I found them a little generic, just an extra percentage or additional plague damage, I think at this point we could make some interesting changes. A change that would be really cool for the deathstalker assassination would be the blindside ambush applying the deathmark too, since there are few resources (not to say almost none) that the assassination can use to activate the hero talent.
Regarding the deathstalker sub gameplay, I think it will make the rotation a little more complex, I really donât have an opinion on whether this is good or bad for the game, but anyway I wanted to suggest that there was some way to generate the deathsmark in the your target in AOE skills.
Please note that currently in alpha the shadowstrike in stealth without the subterfuge talent is not activating the deathmark
In conclusion, I think deathstalker needs to be refined and changed some talents that are very generic with the addition of some cool animations for the plague dmg, as the idea is to give more class identity to the gameplay.
Thatâs it, sorry for the English improvisation

I like how Deathstalkerâs Mark is single-target oriented and has some ramp-up time. Makes me feel like a patient assassin. Darkest Night is a cool payoff.
I dislike some of the details of the current implementation:
Mark going above 3 stacks is weird since the whole point of DN is to remove stacks. I suppose we can consider hitting Mutilate/Backstab during Subterfuge/Dance? But that doesnât sound fun.
If the Marked target dies, you get nothing and your Mark is gone. Listen, Iâm no stranger to guessing how long mobs will live before applying bleeds. But the worst case there is âoops I was inefficient.â Losing Mark is way more punishing. Besides, shouldnât we be rewarded for the death of our Marked (stalked) target?
