Why not have both?
Mythic + (Challenge Mode) has timer
Mythic + has a death count but no timer
That way people can choose. Also it’s a good way to bring back challenge mode specific rewards like MOP had.
To start challenge mode, the key holder activates it and the rest of the party gets a prompt to agree.
the timer is fine, it’s the skill set of players thats the problem.
Delves are the problem. It’s like granting LFR normal and heroic raid gear. While normal and heroic raid both still exist.

Why would you wait 10 mins before each pull when you can take the dungeon a single pull at a time and avoid the death count? You don’t need lust for every pull when you aren’t trying to Equate Brand MDI the entire zone.
You can already do this in 10s without either wiping or waiting 10 mins for each pull.
Because people don’t know mechanics and think deaths are due to random chance so the less time spent in combat the better.

And with the whole “leaving” issue, we can just agree that if things aren’t going well, we wrack up 20 deaths real quick and ditch the key to avoid the auto-catch system

Nah I think that would make them far more toxic. People already bail after the first wipe. They’ll really bail on the first death now.

It’s also what people call Siege of Boralus, and a really well telegraphed 3 second shout.
(And to be fair, there are instant deaths, like pull into frontal with no time to dodge.)
Would be an ironic change considering you can be good enough to compensate your group technically having a few extra deaths in the current system, but in a static system it wouldn’t matter how efficiently you recover.
M+ is already degen in my eyes (the meta-slaving), even as it is now.
It’s why I absolutely refuse to touch it, because it’s just not fun for PuGs lol.
Rated PvP is significantly more fun for me than M+.

No, like others said it promotes insanely degenerate gameplay like waiting several minutes between packs to ensure everyone has their cooldowns.
In the pugging sense, it would make healers go practically extinct overnight as it’d put virtually the entire burden of beating a key on their shoulders.
