And I mean bad. After playing wotlk classic recently just to see how DKs once were…this is insane. The amount of fun I’ve had playing wotlk DK compared to retail is honestly quite sad… It’s like an entirely different class. Why did they destroy the class and throw it in the gutter? On classic I actually feel like a slow moving terminator that can take large amounts of damage while dishing out even more damage. My diseases actually feel like real diseases that spread and causes crazy damage with different effects. Frost actually feels like an ice machine with huge aoe crits and high burst. The only spec that feels atleast decent on retail is blood and even still wotlk blood is better.
How did this happen? The class has become a joke, the amount of fun I have on my classic DK just makes me want to delete my retail DK entirely. You gave rets a rework and now that spec is doing 10x better and is much more fun, now do the same to DKs who desperately need it more than anyone. Hardly anyone plays DK anymore and for good reason.

The MarcelionOnline (sp?) has been saying thos for awhile. At least one argument from Flame has been that Death Coil isnt the same on all specs in terms of priority, and that people learning one spec almost learn bad lessons when transitioning to another DK spec.

It just doesn’t feel good to play. They are severely underplayed and now I understand why. On wotlk I can choose between three different presences that alter my gameplay significantly, I don’t feel like a guy with a sword who can shoot some magic abilities like I do on retail I actually feel like a dead warrior who wants to corrupt and ruin everything he touches. It’s just not fun and needs alot of work done (especially frost lmao). Hopefully blizzard does something.

Everyone wants rework and to be the next paladins, but that is a gamble. Count your blessings and stay under the radar of blizzard.

I think Death knights were overdue a rework when Shadowlands came out, showed all this death magic spells but death knights not having any of the necrotic green spells. even unholy all of its dmg is purple.

And you know the sad part? In the original release of Wrath, DK’s were even more OP than they are now, in the Classic reboot. It was insanely fun.

I was still a newbie back then, just derping around on a warlock since BC. Wrath dropped, and everyone and their mother rolled a dk.
I had no idea how to play a melee toon, so I was death gripping things left and right, just like the other dk’s lol. It didn’t matter at all, since dk’s were just so damned overpowered.
The best were bg’s. Straight up, the determining factor was which team had the most dk’s. Utter chaos and bloodshed. Fun times.

To be fair most of the DKs were paladin rerolls because one of the lead devs at the time was a former EQ raider that had a vendetta against paladins/shadow knights/monks for tanking anything outside of exp grinding and that warriors should be the only tanks. Thats why warriors and maybe bears were the only viable tanks in vanilla. Paladins started getting there in BC as AE tanks, but still lacked the mitigation for some fights as a main tank. The tank shortage got really bad I assume and the fact that paladins having 2 dead talent trees (prot and ret) didnt shake well with the rest of the devs.
Granted paladins were viable in all 3 with wrath, most paladins didn’t want to take the chance, let alone spam one button to heal all night ever again and rerolled to DK.
The way paladins turned out in vanilla probably would have went down a lot better with the playerbase that played them if the class was called Cleric instead.
Wrath DK had one of its only meaningful forms of depth and complexity removed in Classic because it was ludicrously overpowered LMAO
What kind of Sunday troll thread is this?

This is the first xpac since WoTLK that I haven’t mained a DK.
My DK was my main for like 15 years.

Lol. I remember soloing hellfire ramparts right out of the starting zone at launch. I miss the way unholy use to be. Self rez and two other rezzes. Annoying guy in raid or PvP? He gets the “come back as a ghoul” rez. The sheer fun it was in PvP too. Death and decay when it had the hands holding people. Lol. I got exalted with the wrath PvP factions before they were removed just from dk.

I dropped em in bfa. They felt too far gone.
The only troll here is you, the amount of stupidity in your post is dumbfounded.

I remember how OP DK’s were on wrath release. Unholy was insanely cracked at the time.

They were atleast decent in legion, bfa… Shadowlands I felt much weaker and I mained another class because I just didn’t feel like a deathknight anymore, but now it’s just sad. What was once my favorite class has become a joke especially after playing wotlk classic and seeing how fun they once were.

I play DK a fair bit. Frost feels so bad I just can’t stomach playing it. Unholy is woefully under-tuned at the moment for M+ and has a cracked burst window for raid which causes major balancing issues. Blood is the only spec that’s in a decent spot.
Unholy actually has a very fun and dynamic play style in M+ but you only do good damage in giant pulls. Your AoE build spec is entirely dependent on cooldowns for ST damage however. When you don’t have them up, you do laughably bad damage. And on 2-6 mob pulls you are way behind other classes. Very under-tuned.

Yeah DKs were broken OP back then. Im sure youd like to see it that way in DF

Even the little things like “the death and decay” sound effect is different and it’s why I loved playing dk. But they took that away…
