You said you had to ask Taez about Icecap which you never did. And if its optimizations of sims its just more evidence that the sims werent accurate and brings the question of why should anyone trust it?

But 9.2 is out, people were done with testing about a month prior to the release of 9.2

Im just going to gut chuckle when the complaints come, and they are going to come.

 Writing the APL is a continuous process with lots of small incremental improvements. That’s how we make it as good as it is.

It was minor priority updates. Like ensuring it played around unleashed frenzy properly.

To clarify, the whole point was that the Icecap wasn’t far behind in simulations. This was due to some minor priority updates that made Icecap in the simulations play closer to how you’d play in reality. The icecap gameplay is just the normal Frost rotation without any real cooldown windows.

Its not though, even his wowhead/icy veins write up explicitly stated DW is more optimal in everything except single target where the 2H is ~15 ilvls higher


And if you mean on the forums, well that should tell you about which version of the spec more people are interested in.

We can’t trust that you can play to the optimal level if you can’t back it up numerically


Like, this rogue of mine is a side project and a green parser lol. Imagine if I take it over to the rogue forum and start mouthing off about this and that with the subtelty spec when I can’t back it up? :laughing:

Not to mention your DK is still 219, my DK was benched for most of 9.1 and still made it to 240
 I don’t understand your perspective sometimes when it seems evident you don’t keep up to date :man_shrugging:

I’m gonna derail the derail, how do you feel about 2H frost in m+ this season biceps? I know it won’t be optimal, but will it hold it against unholy you think?

You know, funny you mention this while this DK has not been touched in 2022. Mainly it’s because I don’t enjoy the class as much anymore. :frowning:

At least I keep myself up to date

So much more viable compared to 9.1.5. It was previously no competition but in 9.2 I feel like it’s competitive for sure. Optimal? Most likely no. But if you have a high ilvl 2-hander it can most def be the play.

It was far behind, really far behind. Simming my character between BoS, Obliteration and Icecap, Icecap took a nose dive off of the empire state building according to the sims. Even now.

I cant remember what it was, but it was at least 600dps behind at the time. In the 4k dps range. Thats big.

Also, to clarify, this was before we found out DW KM was bugged (which made icecap drop significantly). In 9.2, Icecap is quite far behind due to low synergy with tier set.

So the 2h needs a higher ilvl of 15 ilvls
 that makes things so much better.

And no, it doesnt actually tell you which version more people are interested in. Most of the people that wanted 2h back, arent even playing anymore. They quit. That should tell you something about 2h.

Also, if you are going to quote something, finish the damn quote. Im tired of people leaving out the important stuff.

But, ill just wait for people to complain about 2h when they get the 4pc and just laugh at it. It was all over the ptr forums of people using it in multiple areas of the game and BoS having a log of 15k.

Even with high haste/crit Ice Cap is behind that much?

I messed around with 2/2/X1/X/1/1 high crit/haste on ptr and was able to keep my razor ice stacks up and pillar up time to a high percentage. Think I had like 40% crit with 2 set. Felt pretty good.

Is it possible to get to a 100% pillar up time or close with proper itemization?

Not that I’m a champion of a boring passive like Ice Cap. Though, kind of like the thought of having a brainless combat/havoc fast swinging setup for sleepy DK play. Wish Frost Whelps replaced hypothermic pres.
