Death Knight Cosmetics

Personally, I love that Night Elves can use the Night Warrior eyes to replace the Deathknight blue glow.

So, I’d love if it other races could also swap out regular eye colors or non smokey eye effects on their DKs.

Also, random, but how cool would more glyphs be? I personally think I’d be kinda funny/cool if your ghouls could be Withered or the Fallen/Sickly Blood Elves in Quel’thelas.

I am a blood DK. I want blood red eyes!

DKs should really have options for blue/red/green/white eyes with varying levels of smokiness, maybe a “sockets” option as well.

I have pondered if the death knight mechagnomes should’ve had a rust look.

I think there does exist a machine looking death knight set but I can’t recall.

That would be a cool idea.

yes!!! Like I’m fine with a very ice blue eye, but at least let me not have it smoking out of my head, I wanna just look like a normal dark spellsword kinda toon, lmao.

Death knight void elves, lightforged, and mechagnomes don’t exist

Fun fact: The Death Knight eyes are already customizable. They aren’t static blue textures.
Blizzard is just sitting on this, probably for the same reason they decided they’re done with customization in this, the “Customization Expansion”.

No, they shouldn’t. Unless there’s a huge lore shift that changes what Death Knights are, the power used to create them, the power they draw upon, etc. Until then, the blue eyes we currently have are integral to being a Death Knight.

As shocking as it sounds, i’ve seen plenty of lightforged death knights.

While I can understand the eyes resemble their bond to the lich king, I think that also means they should be allowed red eyes.

Lady Alistra has red eyes.
Several of the DK trainees have yellow eyes or non-glowing eyes.
Korgaz Deadaxe, Thassarian, and Lord Thorval don’t have glowing eyes.

Sidenote: Not all DKs are raised directly by the Lich King, so it stands to reason there’d be some who have a greater affinity to the unholy lean of things and would have green eyes, or more blood-centric ones would have red eyes.
Generally speaking, there’s no real reason they can’t have the same variety that Forsaken have, otherwise all Forsaken would be locked into having blue eyes due to being raised by the Scourge.

Thassarian has a face tattoo model that, for whatever reason, can’t have eye glows due to system limitations. He’s far from the only example, and in official artwork he has a blue eye glow just like any other death knight.

Source?

Excuse me but our fallen brothers and sisters won’t be your pets.

We have no confirmation that she’s a Death Knight. She certainly appears to be a Dark Ranger.

All of those trainees have their normal racial eye glows, with the exception of the trolls. The trolls used an existing undead/sand troll model seen in the Eastern Plaguelands. It’s not a feature of them being trainees. Those trainees are basically assumed to either not actually be dead yet, or not full fledged death knights.

See above. Tattoo models don’t have eye glows due to system limitations.

We have no confirmation that the unholy death knight trainer who wield a runeblade and wears death knight armor is a death knight?

There isn’t any, because it’s false.
Thassarian’s character design is based off a comic/manga where he didn’t have glowy eyes so they just stuck with that.
Edit: To clarify, it is currently false. It used to be somewhat true, as they used Cult of the Damned skin options (which included eye colors/lack thereof) from WotLK to BFA. However, that does not change the fact that they could have used existing Death Knight skin/eye options for these characters but instead chose not to.
Also, WC3 Death Knights didn’t have glowing eyes either. Their eyes were more akin to black pits. Arthas, who was undoubtedly a Death Knight before becoming the Lich King, did not have glowing eyes.

There’s never been any official comment on it, that I know of. We’ve just seen it several times now that the tattoo models can’t have glows for reasons. I guess the eyes weren’t created as a separate piece, due to to the tattoos interacting with/over the eyes.

You could look to Thassarian’s card from the TCG, or the cover of his manga book to see that he does have the eye glow. You can also see this with Whitemane’s Death Knight model, and her official art in Hearthstone as well.

I was mostly joking. My wretched servant Subastian is one of my favorite pets.
