Yeah, that would be ideal but when tanks consistently pull packs and packs of mobs and you utilize every resource and end up with 20% mana… They can’t wait for 20 seconds for you to drink? nah… bad tank is bad
Advice for the ages.
I don’t understand why “Let the tank pull” is such a difficult concept for people.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dps or a tank sit to eat either while the healer drinks, they then need to heal the rat hole dps and tank to full and start the pull at 60% mana lol.
Sometimes its not the tank but the dps not interrupting or moving out of the bad.
And CCing 1 or 2 mobs per trash pack and not just aoeing everything down can save a lot of time as well due to healer mana saved.
Ideally either CC a healer mob or a caster mob depending on the mobs can save the healer 20% + mana per trash pack. And you save time by not having to wait for drinking as much.
Sadly to many dps want big numbers which means aoe it all to them, no kicks, not getting out of bad, etc.
Bad tanks can definitely be an issue, but bad dps drain a healers mana far more than a “go go go” tank.
Haven’t died, haven’t been booted, and haven’t really had to wait on a queue.
I play with a group of friends. Do you know what those are?
edit: I haven’t died because of MD aggro* (everyone wipes early on stupid stuff)
They’re not blowing through 70% of their mana for every trash pull, and if they are, SOMEONE is doing something wrong, whether it’s the tank, healer, or dps.
Some ppl just enjoy certain class/specs not based on role but a variety of different reasons. For instance, I love cata arms warr but don’t enjoy prot warr. I also can’t stand ret but ljke prot pally. That’s just based on preference on how the specs play. Say you enjoy mage, lock or hunter for whatever reason, your just locked into one role.
Ppl not using thier interrupts is annoying though. I did a heroic ToT on my arms warr with lock, mage. Mage csed once and lock hit sl twice. Taking down the big big mob packs with 2x healers got super sweaty for how easy it is.
Bad tank mentality.
Ok… so let’s settle it per last night:
Guild DK tank - 80k HP regular dungeon and I am disc priest around 60k HP (still leveling)
Great run, never had mana issue
RDF DK tank - 120k HP same priest (me)
I can barely keep tank up and get get mana past 50% because tank insists on pull…pull…pull
To me - bad tank. I wish I checked his gear and build but I didn’t stay past first boss because in the end the party was gonna wipe.
I tend to side with the OP. Good tanks are taking into account a variety of factors. (Group DPS, ability distribution, how they are using those abilities, etc.) It’s not just, “Me pull, me pull more…”
I would always say, “If you want me to pull faster, then you need to play better.”
Lol?
If this was the case, why would we need heals?
Do you even realize how much unavoidable dmg there is in cata?
Do you realize how poor mana regen is for healers in cata?
Do you realize how LITTLE their heals actually heal for in cata?
You don’t, do you… Thought so.
Because most of the time the tank is a slow bafoon.
The DPS that do this want all the benefits of bearing no responsibility for the success of the dungeon, that’s why they don’t play tanks/heals while dictating to everyone how fast the pace should be for tanks/heals.
Exhibit A
Dps rot brain. I guess that’s all this thread has been narrowed down to, they all think the same way, none of them tank or heal in cata to even begin to grasp how things actually operate. /thread. See ya guys!
Speed it up or Ill speed it up for you.
My dps is the reason you’re clearing the dungeon and don’t forget it.
We move at my speed. The speed of kings. Not slow peasant pace.
You likely do 1/2 the tank’s dmg…if that
The tanks I see couldn’t dps their way out of a paper bag!
You likely don’t see much of anything sitting in town trade chat
Listen Bill if I want your opinion I’ll dps it out of you.
Now chop chop and figure out why you’re so slow.
And if I wanted to hear you screeching nonsense I’d ask your mother to take away minecraft.
