Dear Blizzard: The Void will never have the same appeal as the Scourge

I like to forget that she was a thing.

There is an element of horror the scourge had that no one has been able to replicate.

The Legion possesses all of those attributes through the Scourge. The Scourge is a weapon they created, so anything attributable to the Scourge is ultimately attributable to the Legion.

Yes and no, they where presented undeath via narzul, he is the creator of the scourge, and ultimately used the legion as a stepping stone to grow in power before he was over taken by arthas.

The threat of the scourge and the threat of the legion is 2 different feels though.

One is chaos and destruction, the other is forced servitude and suffering. Death is frightening yes, but being forced to serve and suffer for eternity via scourge is worse then staying dead.

Scourge yes, but Maldraxxus isn’t better than Void.

Eh, I am over the Scourge, to be honest. Same with demons.

My hot take of the day is that the scourge were small fry since Wrath.

I feel the void has not been done justice. It’s coming off as just another power to use and abuse. It literally should be CONSUMING the elves. It’s not even something you should be able to control.

It’s not a demon.

Unless they are simply just delaying the inevitable.

Precisely this. The inevitable threat of becoming an undead, the psychological horror of the Scourges machinations (slaughterhouses and fleshworks), and sheer depravity of how deep those in Necromancy will steep to, and the treachery that can seemingly pop out of nowhere or be distilled over decades is what draws my interest to them in the terms of the Cult of the Damned.

The Scourge forces however will always just be magnificent.

Let’s be real here, the only thing that matters in this discussion is Xal’atath.

When has the Scourge ever been like that? They didn’t “get stronger” over the course of Wrath, or any other time they were the focus. Sure, the bosses got tougher, but they always get tougher. They got tougher in Legion too. But they weren’t “stronger” in any kind of tangible sense.

Honestly? They were small fry in Wrath, too. Extremely bland and forgettable faction even by the standards of early WoW. At least the Illidari had a diverse army with many unique characters leading them. (Their actions didn’t always make any sense, but at least they were unique.)

Damn what an awful series of opinions.

I see what you mean. Regardless of the lore connection between the two, the mood, vibe, aesthetic, etc. are markedly different.

The scourge was cool because of Arthas. The void is cool because of Xal’atath. Xal’atath is a hard act to beat wish she’d put her powers into me :dracthyr_heart:

Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he

personally I think the void has more appeal than the scourge. Also the void has always had a connection to the bug species of Azeroth, it makes sense that they would do the same to nerubians.
