Every modern MMO (yes, even those with subscription fees + expansion fees like FFXIV and ESO) has aesthetic cash shop items. This is not P2W.
I want WoW to be around and compete with these other games, and continue to dominate the market. In that vein, I will continue to support these improvements. It is a good business strategy.
People need to stop complaining, and let Blizzard do what they can to thrive. They will need it.
I agree. It would also be a good idea to make some of these attainable through questing or dungeon runs as well. I don’t really understand the animosity that people have for this. It has no affect on me or anyone as far as I can see. Why the fuss?
I got no issue with Cash Shop transmogs, as long as they are decently priced and don’t look crappy. Give us some nice looking gear, Formal armours and silly stuff.
It’s a really fine balance that Blizzard has to walk. If you put too many paid cosmetics into the shop, the player base (especially the F2P types that grind gold to pay for their sub) will inevitably dwindle. A lower player base is not good for the WoW ecosystem.
A few cosmetics here and there is ok…but if they start doing this monthly, it’s going to be a massive problem.
You are right, it is not like there is difficult content lacking actual unique rewards or anything. Mythic+ achievements giving a copy of a mount you can get from 3 different sources? Mythic raids having ugly, plain sets? Skills that lack proper animation? Who cares? The cash shop makes this game so much better, right?
Only issue I have is they’ll focus more on the paid transmog & not the ones that drop in game. The fairy dragon set is more detailed than any mog in game which is some thing that shouldn’t happen.
Why is a cosmetic item that the people who are complaining claim is ugly going to lead to P2W, but pets with actual stats that can be used for content and PvP aren’t?
Either they are feigning outrage.
Or, they actually want the cosmetic item and don’t want to pay for it.
If actual iLvl gear were to show up on the shop then I think we’d all agree.
Personally, I’d rather Blizz monetize cool cosmetic items like this than charging for “services” like gender changes/level boosts which Blizz just voluntarily nerfed their income on for our qaulity of life.
