didn’t you literally just say this wasn’t a conversation about the strength of specs? surely you understand that ret last season was an outlier and not the average meta of a given season, right?
and you think these players would benefit more from a solo skirm system… why? because you think
even though it’s 100% dependent on the meta? if we take your ret scenario from earlier, you really think the same people that have a ret in their SS (which likely means they won at least 1-2 of those rounds mind you) wouldn’t see 6 rets in a row? at that point it would 100% depend on RNG as to whether they faced the ret or had the ret. at least with RSS you’re guaranteed the ret twice as a teammate
to be fair, we are all speculating here, but the average wait time says 16 minutes for SS que right now, and i can assure you i’ve seen the actual time in que pass 35 multiple times without queing a single skirm or BG in between. maybe the average drops to 5 minutes and the actual only ends up being 10-12 but that’s a long shot due to the likely nature of the games
skirms/BGs are fast because they just match people. no MMR, maybe they try to get at least 2 healers per team, but that’s it. your system would still have MMR to consider, would still have to find 6 players at similar levels (aside from healers assuming they kept the healer only MMR thing that exists right now) it would just be somewhat quicker i guess? aside from the fact that- like Kennie pointed out- you’d be in que 10 minutes for a 30 second game.
because rattling off 3-4 quick losses in a row waiting 10 minutes in between would entice people to keep going
off topic but the only reason why i think solo RBG ques would be faster than RSS ques is because the vast majority of the PvP player base enjoy/que BGs so the pool of players would be significantly higher. for a season or two at least
from the sounds of others, you weren’t alone, i just don’t see how that would’ve been possible given that would probably experience a bigger drop off in players than what we currently have
i guess it’s possible that i’m wrong, but based on what we know, it’s unlikely that would’ve done any better
Yeah I’m not sure how it all would have played out. Honestly there’s so many unexpected variables that would be impossible to account for (as we are seeing now with shuffle and 3’s rating) there’s no way to say. I just remember being kinda shocked when I saw “solo shuffle” for the first time.
Ya this is what most people wanted/expected when solo queue was talked about. They gave an answer to this is it was something along the lines of it feeling bad to lose after just one game/round and having to queue up again or something. I want to say it was during the Bahjeera interview with Holinka in April of 2022.
I have said this a few times, I think an RBG solo queue would pop off just for the reasons you stated. BGs are far less punishing than arena as well.
I actually like RSS as a game mode. But it’s not better than just single round true 3v3 solo queue. If you get a bad lobby with bad player, jerks, toxic players etc, you have to play six rounds with them. In the true 3v3 environment you get a bad lobby it’s in an out and requeue. I think queue times would also be shorter for these same reasons.
What if you played 6 games with the same teammates, but played against another random team each time? I think that would be cool, and might build some camaraderie…or not…with your random teammates.
Even as a disc priest healing in solo shuffle isn’t fun. It’s the pug mentality of the dps not paying attention to cc of healer and then blaming us when we lose the round.
There are also bad healers that have no ability to keep their team alive. So many are pushed to higher ratings, even at 0 cr, because there just aren’t enough healers.
Shuffled partners to reduce the feelings of unfairness as to comp luck and damp so the six rounds don’t last too long each. Random single games wouldn’t be some kind of vast improvement.
