DDOS Attacker arrested

UKDrilla is in jail. Our lives go on and his has effectively ended for the foreseeable future. I hope that other young people who believe they can get away with doing these like this, take note and focus their resources on more beneficial uses instead of temporarily inconveniencing others.

Wouldn’t have been possible without all of our hard work.

Good. He will have a long time regretting that decision.

It lasted about 8-12 hours. He DDOSed for 3 days straight, took down Overwatch, WoW retail, and WoW Classic. Not to mention Wikipedia.

Last person that DDOSed Blizzard was some Romanian adult upset at a player back in 2010, he was arrested and extradited to the US last year to spend time in Federal prison, had had to pay $30,000 for “Lost wages and damages”.

I hope he learnt a lesson from this.

And to think, he’d probably still be free if all he did was take down wikipedia.

I still don’t understand why people think they can’t get caught doing this.

Right? Like…what software or technique was being used where the perp thought with total surety “Dude, no one’s EVER going to know it was me. I can totally brag about this on twitter.”

Hello everyone. We wanted to return to this subject and put some closure on it. As always, It is our top priority to resolve any issues that prevent players from having a smooth gameplay experience.

Immediately after the Distributed Denial of Service attacks against our game service began, the Blizzard Security Team worked around the clock with local and international law enforcement agencies to track down the source of the DDoS. It is our understanding that, within a few days, authorities were able to successfully identify and arrest a suspect.

We really appreciate your patience and understanding.

You cant mess with a billion dollar company and not expect repercussions, I’m so curious what his punishment will be.

Companies will go after him for monetary losses, he is done.

I once saw a stream of some dude went through dark souls without getting hit. At the end some kid on watching the stream typed in “we did it” i never laughed so hard.

Tech Raptor, PCGAMES. Or just google the name OP gave, add ddos attacker, warcraft arrested.

Well, my prediction of “standing in a federal court in 5 months” is looking pretty damn prescient so far.

Multiple felonies for the sake of a few cumulative hours annoyance. Take notes script kiddies, this is what we call a “stupid play.”

Based on what happened to the last several batches of morons who did this, it’ll be up to a few years in a federal pen, circumstances depending.

With a name like UKDrilla, prison should be fun for him.

Standard human reaction with anything. It’s always we/us, when something good happens. It’s always them/ they when it’s a bad thing.
