DBM or Bigwigs?

What say you and why? I have never used either one and was told I need to download one of them… are they essentially the same thing?

Just download either one and turn off all the features. If you have someone in the raid who’s calling everything anyway all the addons are going to do is take up extra screen space.

You don’t need either honestly. Unless if you’re the raid lead maybe. Otherwise, all the information you need is already in the game.

Dbm. I’ve always used it and it just works.

Plus I love the “run away little girl line”

Finally, I like it because the cancel people can’t force me to change the above sound bite.

If you’re really bad at raiding or horribly lazy, use DBM because it tells you how to do the fight.

Use BigWigs if you want timers and a very minimal amount of guidance but don’t exactly need your hand held through everything.

I would say just don’t use boss mods and be a better player for it but Blizzard is designing fights around DBM therefore necessitating DBM if you have any hope of doing higher content with how ridiculous some mechanics can get at times.

DBM if you like to be kinda told what’s going to happen etc.
Bigwigs if you wanna skip a lot of the hand holding per se and just have the key things to worry about.

At least that’s what I’ve come to see it as.

I use DBM, I like the warning/help it gives me.

If phase changes didn’t cause weird timer resets, there would be a lot fewer instances of ridiculous mechanics.

I use Bigwigs because DBM kept disconnecting our raid during CN progression.

I’m talking more about fights like Mythic Archimonde and Mythic Fel Lord Zakuun where you HAD to be using DBM for the mechanics to make any sense.

I was a diehard DBM fan. then it broke during nathria and I swapped to bigwigs… and never looked back.

I prefer it. I pair it with a timeline WA though, cause I like the way it looks.

99% of guilds require the use of boss mods. People saying to get better, LOL, it’s not 2005. Anything with timers and abilities is fine. They are both good.

Configure it though, move bars to where you need them and away from your UI to stay uncluttered.

Why is it so much more widely used than DBM for raiding guilds? Like what differences?

Why do you prefer it?

I don’t think Biwigs is more widely used, the opposite, but it’s definitely less in-your-face than DBM is. But by the same token you can easily setup DBM how you want, adding or removing sounds and alerts. If you’re the tank and you need to avoid one ability you can make it sound a fog horn or something as opposed to a normal alert sound.

There’s nothing wrong with either one honestly.

Ohhh… you were saying boss mods referring to any of the boss mod programs, not specifically DBM… got it.

neither just play game. why make it easy mode.

dbm i tryed both just to used to dbm to change i guess never gave bigwigs a real shot i guess.

I use DBM. Some in my raid group use Bigwigs. I don’t think it really matters.

I used to use DBM only for Orgozoa’s Dribbling Ichor and yeah, if you don’t like having a cluttered screen then I would just not use it, on top of that as everyone stated above, you’re given a very noticeable warning in fights now so there’s really no need for boss addons.

My advise would be DBM for basic usage and BigWigs for more of a power user. Both of them can work for either case that’s just my preference. Also it’s kind of what you often find or at least in my experience you usually see most players using DBM until you move to more competitive environments and start finding more BigWigs users.

In other words if you want to install it and forget about it I’d say just go DBM.

If you want are more picky and like to go in depth into customization and going into the settings for the different encounters to turn on or off the different alerts and timers to your liking then BigWigs.

BigWigs for me.
Less intrusive on the screen, adds audio alerts and monitors more abilities than DBM.

Audio alerts are the big one for me, I don’t need more crap on the screen. I just need some timers and audio alerts.
