Probably best to wait until its actually available to be upset. It seemingly is just the exact same item as the shadescale and that has a much more realistic cooldown.
Would be silly if these both had different ones.
Im sure it will happen.
Remember the transmorpher beacon had an absurd cd when that was datamined too. But like an hour into anyone owning it it was hotfixed.
Inky Blackness potions are also a consumable used up when you use it. There will be a consumable version like the Inky Blackness potions ALONG SIDE the toy that has no cool down.
I disagree with how itâs intended to work, is the point. Most toys are visual to other players and/or provide ways to be annoying if spammable. For the cost (1000 Badges), a 24 hour cooldown is absurd.
Given that this is something that players have been asking for for years, I think itâs somewhat poor implementation. An entire region of gamers are mismatched with in game time solely due to Blizzard being unwilling to change the day night cycle to local time. Implementing an item that alleviates that, but giving it such a lengthy cooldown just feels trite.
As above, I just donât feel the cost justifies the cooldown. Inky Blackness is consumable, but itâs basically free given our income and how cheap it is.
If Inky Blackness cost anything relevant, you might have a point, but when we can afford (in just an afternoon of questing) enough consumables to last more than two months of constant use, thereâs just no reason why such an expensive item should have such a long cooldown.
Because certain people on the development team are emotionally opposed to giving their customers choice.
Canât point any fingers but we all know theyâre there whenever we see something like this.
This sums it up well. Thereâs always a certain group of posters who will come in and say âwell thatâs how Blizzard intends it to be usedâ as if that settles the question. I assume those are the ones whose feedback Blizzard looks at to justify these kinds of things to themselves.
Just be realistic. Its identical to another item already in the game with a much much shorter cd.
Has anyone ever even owned this like on the ptr or something?
I simply can not understand why the night toy would have such a different cd compared to the day one.
The first rule of toys is that there is literally no consistency between them. That one toy you like has a 4h cooldown, one you donât care for can be always up despite being incredibly flashy. Some of them have level requirements in the 90s and 100s for no valid reason.
Everything is individual in this game. This is possible, but it might not be too.
You responded to my above post saying itâs in line with how most toys work, but then comment that the Shadescale has a much shorter cooldown and you donât understand why.
I donât understand. It looks like you tried to disprove my point about the cooldown being too long, and then argued the cooldown is too long with someone else.
Iâm not going to call you hypocritical, but⌠are you following your own arguments or have I missed something here?
(Given that they both contribute to arguably quality of life experiences, being able to play at night if you can only play in the day or in the day if you can only play at night, they should both have shorter CDs than durations. There is no justifiable reason why changing the world brightness should be a limited time experience.)
You arent comparing similar items even after we both tried to help you do so. Both consumables have no cooldown. Obviously inky black is cheaper for sure, but not really related to this discussion.
Ironically, you are missing the opportunity to compare this item to its mirror counterpart, the shadescale. Likely exact same item just opposite with only a 1 hour cd.
Lets wait and see what happens here before we get upset because i cant imagine how this item doesnât end up with the exact same cd as the shadescale.
What would the logic there be, ya know?
It might have even already been changed, but no one knows, is all I am saying.
Completely agreed. If this is being provided as a solution for OCE players, its cooldown and duration are both completely unaligned to the problem. And it shouldnât require TW badges to purchase.
I think it was just reading them back-to-back sounded strange in my head. You had implied the long cooldown was par for the course, at least thatâs how it sounded, then immediately followed up with the cooldown being unusual.
I can see how you meant it, I think, I just didnât read it that way at the time.
Though I was comparing Toys to Consumables, I was trying to compare their effects more than anything. Most toys do something that other players can see or interact with somehow. Whether thatâs spawning little critters, transforming you, teleporting you somewhere, etc, toys have a history of doing something more tangible than changing the lights (barring a very small number of toys that change weather or other similar skybox effects).
Given the nature of the toys, that they change things from day-to-night, they only apply to your screen and no one would know, and that it allows players to engage the game on their own schedule instead of being at the mercy of the server time (something that many games avoid by having shorter day-night cycles), it doesnât feel like it should be categorized in the same vein as other toys.
This went live last week, so the toy is already available and my comments are based on my own personal usage of it. I even tested it a few times to be sure that the buff didnât persist through death.
Additionally, the long CD was brought up on the PTR, yet it was ignored by Blizzard, so itâs not a new criticism.
As many have already outlined, the reason why US and Aus are on the same skybox is because of new CRZ system and that it would be âtoo hardâ to implement a day/night cycle which synced with Australian times. Their reasoning was because it could cause bugs in world events, such as NPCs holding torches during the day. This was their response 3 years ago and since then, OCE forums have been pushing discussion to fix this issue. After a Blue commented that this was something that âcame up in a meetingâ, they gave us this toy as a band-aid fix, though the long CD is a huge slap in the face.
Even if we canât get our own time specific skybox back (which, by the way, we had between Classic and WoD), this toy should offer more suitable usage for its steep cost. I understand that the decision was made to ease grouping options, but to completely change the skybox, and not really give a viable option to play in daylight seems a little ridiculous for a game which encourages RPG and full immersion. Fixing the CD on this toy would at least allow OCE players to have a choice to play in daylight, without constraining the CRZ system and grouping options.
Excuse moi, but consumables donât have cooldowns? Generalisations can be a curse. Many consumables have cooldowns. Many toys have very short cooldowns (some as short as 2 minutes).
And I wholeheartedly support this comment. The toy in question has no impact on the game at all beyond the userâs viewpoint. Having an onerous cooldown is illogical and unfortunate.
When BFA first released I was very disappointed by the landscape since I could only see the dark due to my timezone.
Only after playing it during my off day did I realize how beautiful the world looked.
Please Blizzard, lower the CD so that I can enjoy the beautiful world under daylight for longer.
I know I know, itâs immersion-breaking so on and so forth, but itâs actually more immersion-breaking when the game is in eternal night mode when Iâm actually playing it during the day. Itâs rather unappealing.
