The only thing you cannot do with dragon riding that you can do with normal flight is AFK.

I’d add that you also can’t do something I frequently did with regular flying, which was hover above a zone and take screenshots of the pretty vistas. xD I do kind of miss just soaking in the scenery.

Something I’m curious about: Do people who want regular flying feel that regular flying mounts should be made to go the same top speed as dragon riding mounts (830% speed) or do they just want regular flying speed (310%)? I just can’t imagine volunteering to go almost 3x slower. The zones are really big.

I don’t think I have seen any argument by pro-traditional flyers wanting this. Speed is one of the main things causing the problems with dragonriding.

I don’t even want normal flying. I never bothered unlocking it in the expansions with the pathfinder achievements and I wouldn’t bother unlocking it here either if it was an option. I just don’t want to use the damn dragonriding system.

Its not the speed. Its the fact you can’t hover and go up and down without vigor.

I am fine with old speed…I like my OLD flying mounts for the following:

1. Challange of getting them (I.e. Lost count of Onyxia runs to get her)
2. I stop and look at the scenery or view it as I go past, I find something new all the time
3. I just want to hover - Kid calls, I hover, Dinners done, I hover.
4. Etc. etc.

Again, if you like it, by all means, more power to you and do please continue. Me however, I was happy back in the day when the first flying mount came out. Opened up a whole new way to move around the WC universe.

And make them handle like dragonriding. I want to soar through the Waking Shores on Invincible going 830% faster.

At least in my mind, flying is mostly about getting somewhere, and if you’re doing dragon riding right you’ll have 100% uptime with it as well. Sacrificing speed for control isn’t really something that I understand, particularly since the controls aren’t too challenging (subjective), but people have mentioned wishing they could just hover places and I get that.

Could be reg flying speed, and I’m hoping the 830% speed if they did it with reg mounts wouldn’t cause motion sickness but they could tie THAT speed increase to path finder.

Dragonriding is inferior for say farming mats and doing so especially while questing. You used to go drop and get stuff on your WAY to a destination but with dragonriding all the start and stops means you lose momentum, time, and vigor.

Regular flying now feels like you forgot to upgrade your flight speed.

I still use FP’s too, sometimes I wanna go somewhere and take a 2 minute break in between.

That’s fair, I haven’t tried gathering with Dragonriding yet; I could see how that could be annoying. There is that one gathering-related skill point, but it seems underwhelming.

Gathering herbs or minerals increases your Vigor recharge rate by 10% for 10 sec.

Maybe they could buff that. Just give players a full vigor back when they gather something so they can always use the ascent ability to get on their way.

I’m still enjoying it, but it’s definitely only an add on for the current flying system, not a replacement. Both should be available to those who want it.

i can cross the entire dragon isles, unless I’m stopping for quest or to mine some ore…

at what…4x the speed of old flying?
Let them have their slow flying if they are really so set on refusing to learn basic controls

Maybe, sometimes it’s not so bad but given the way they made the herbalism/mining nodes all over including at the very top of things it can eat all your vigor stopping at various points.
