Was watching a Supatease video today looking at Dark Ranger and Sentinel.
Watch from 5:18 when he showcases it all coming together.
Like, my God, I almost fell asleep.
A couple little hounds and some very subtle Purple visuals.
The Dark Hounds don’t even look like Dark hounds, they look like blue dogs.
Sentinel isn’t great but it’s immediately visually better than Dark Ranger.
It’s embarrassing.

Shooting red arrows as a sentinel feels wrong, should be blue or white arrows… Meanwhile dks blood boil turns from red to blue if they spec into deathbringer

Yeah.
That’s the sad part.
He specs into Sentinel and is immediately being all hyper about an AOE shower effect that is… alright. That’s how bad Dark Ranger is. That one visual effect is immediately impressive in contrast.
Rapid Fire should be Arcane or at least Blue I agree.

arent they the exact dark hound model? It’s a bit hard to see in the video
It’s this model:

But there are better ones they could have given us, like this:

Or at least make it bigger. It’s so small all the elements of it are lost.

I feel like we could say that about every visual on dark ranger tbh. it’s just so dull

I like the non stitched ones more, the dogs arent the problem imo

Everything is so subdued.
I do like the Lunar effect but it needs to be bigger so it’s way more noticeable.
The dark hounds definitely need to be bigger. How about letting us choose the type of dark hounds with a glyph?
Dark Arrow also needs more dynamic visuals. There’s no pop at all and it will be so lost amongst anything and everything else.
why is the hunter dev constrained to using the same animation for every shot?
couldnt even do a cool backflip for black arrow? the kind sylvanas does in like every cutscene lmao?

Do you know how silly that would look on a dwarf.

Dwarfs are gonna look dumb either way.
You’ll either be toying around with Dark magic, or Arcane Owls.
What happened to the good ol’ days of a Bear and a Musket.

Nothing like playing lone wolf and summoning pets…

It would still look better than not doing any extra animations beyond “i shoot”
wow is the only mmo with a archer class that still does this. it’s a fantasy game- give us some of that fantasy
It’s actually more funny than sad at this point
New summons for each class:
- Mage: phoenix
- Warlock: 3 new demons
- Priest: insane “black hole” and a new purple void creature
- Rogue: N/A
- Monk: celestials
- Druid: treants
- Demon hunter: N/A
- Shaman: ancestors
- Evoker: flying dragons dropping bombs
- Hunter: sentinel owl and dreadstalkers
- Warrior: N/A
- Death knight: 4 riders
- Paladin: N/A
What I find particularly “funny” is that all those classes (mage, priest, warlock, DK, shaman, etc.) got these absolutely fantastic new summons (the priest summons a black hole, just think about it ) while hunter got this tiny wretched dreadstalker from the undead starting zone, and the “sentinel owl” owl… talk about reuse without putting any effort

Yeah it’s funny just how lazy and how much the dev who gets forced to work on the hunter class just doesn’t care about the class think if we complain to microsoft they would intervene?

Well it would be the case if we actually HAD A DEV.

I think a skeleton hound with a dark effect would be a more interesting visual.
Tbh i agree, maybe not even skeleton but just pure dark similar to a transparent warlock voidfiend color.
It would be cool if you could get the visual from HotS Sylvanas passive when you pop trueshot, instead of turning blue you get purple smoke effect with those shadowy tendrils. A man can dream :')

I wanted to share with everyone Afflictions visuals"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1cWOLgmqjI
You don’t need to watch more than the first 10 seconds. Affliction a spec most people have just come to accept as visually dull, is 10x better than Hunter.
Again I can’t stress how much this annoys me. I know visuals has nothing to do with design and performance. But it 100% shows Blizzards motivation and care for the classes.
