I’m almost certain visuals will be updated as time goes on, but with the amount of negative feedback, blizz might not do anything yet till the tree gets ironed out.
Black Arrow needs to go ASAP, we don’t need anymore button bloat in this game for any class.
Also I’m gonna be honest, if these Hero Talents aren’t making all of our Core Abilities themed to the Fantasy of the tree, this whole system is a wash.
Ex: Shadow VFX for Aimed Shot, Rapidfire, Arcane Shot, Steady Shot, Multishot, etc.

I disagree Black Arrow is a great ability that was part of hunter tool kit un the past and many hunters are glad to see it back the problem is the poor interaction it has with the tree not the ability itself.

Ofcourse, it’s been in the game in the past, and it was awful back when it existed as well.
This is the problem with design like this, where a dev puts a whole new ability in the class/spec that is absolutely required to use and it completely alters the flow/design of the spec.
People who have been playing MM forever get completely pidgeonholed into playing it if say Dark Ranger is there favorite fantasy.
So the option for those players is “too bad, quit the game then”?
Seems like a problem.

You are complaining about a new ability that could potentially change the game play and add some much needed fresh air to the spec that is now boring and has been the same since BFA with much criticism. Most MM hunters want to see old iterations of the spec like WoD and LEgion because at least there was a game play loop or cool ablities like side winders, piercing shot, marked shot, wind burst - while others would like to see some elements of ranged survival back like laced ammunitions or lock and load giving procs of explosive shot but the LAST thing most playes want is a boring passive tree that adds absolutely nothing to our game play - if thats what you want the go play BM pack leader
Its one button every 30 seconds, and if its balanced decently it should be one that Dark Rangers look forward to pressing.

Thankfully I dont want to play BM hunter, awful gameplay loop, WoD BM was infinitely better and you’re right WoD MM was 100x better as well.
I’d love to have Windburst back from Legion, fantastic ability and would go with the Wind Arrow theme that blizz has yet to delve into.
I actually had a whole other post about a Windranger Hero Talent idea awhile back on a different character.
I’d rather have a visually appealing passive Hero Talent tree which would be a class skin, rather than a new ability that has a ton of RNG procs all over the place and clashes with the abundance of resource we already have as well as the horrible design of Trueshot.
Also for the record, I think MM needs a complete redesign from top to bottom.
We need a Sniper build and a mobile Ranger build.
Not whatever trash we have now.

Hey Galedron! I share your concern and wrote about concerns similar to this in the Community Council forum here. However, I am reminded by reading the official Hunter alpha feedback thread. That quote:
- New spell visuals and audio for several new Hero Talent trees are still a work in progress. Many trees are using placeholder assets for now that will be updated over the course of Alpha.
So let’s hope that many of the visuals are just an artefact of being in Alpha. I think this may be true because of the Dark Hound graphics being very similar to the base wolf model from Classic, the dark chains resembling a low-res Nax-type texture, and dark arrow being very simplistic as well. It’s very possible these were quick placeholders.
(Also, shameless weekly reminder to anyone reading that fingers should be crossed for Wailing Arrow to be buffed for Dark Rangers. Please Blizzard! It makes too much sense!)

tried dark ranger finally and my god you guys werent kidding when you said it was disappointing. why is only one arrow black? why is the one petless spec randomly summoning a dog that literally only one single dark ranger had? why is disengage suddenly vengful retreat?!?!?!

I think the disengage and banshee effect for Trueshot is cool.
Everything else is meh.
There should be far more visuals for all talents and skeletons should be summoned on death of enemy rather than dogs randomly.

I just came back to wow and started playing this week. I honestly didn’t notice visuals on either prior to someone mentioning that Trueshot made you purple or something. The visuals are not very visual…
There is a trinket that drops from darkness in the kobold dungneon… it looks like a more potent and visually striking version of the dark ranger aura, which is too static and rigid
