Dark Iron Paladin

What kind of items would this sort of character be best defined by? What could be some existing weapons or armor pieces that might be something iconic to the Dark Iron Paladin. What sort of questlines or storylines would be a good fit? I am wondering how people would best make use of this character being one of the options. I like how they are dungeon dwellers but might call upon the Light, but the effect Ragnaros has had on them is very distinctive and there is not much known regarding the relationship between Fire magic and the Light.

Always assumed Moira brought the Light with her and we’ve been learning from her and the other dwarves since.

Light is like fire in a way, and the Dark Irons just love their fire.

Ummm… not in Warcraft lore. Which is what he was getting at. Heh

That relationship between fire and light? That is due to the fact we are so awesome the light was wowed by our awesomeness and asked us to be paladins.

I just mean that they can substitute well thematically. Something different to burn things with. Lore’s one thing but there’s also the here and now, and the Fire-Light parallels are probably something that’s not lost on a Dark Iron paladin. They probably appreciate the more zealous aspects of the Light.

For items themselves, I’d lean into the “alternate” colour schemes for some of those lava sets, like from Cataclysm’s Firelands raid. It’s crackly lava but in yellow-gold instead of red. A Mining helmet would be super appropriate too.

Their heritage armor is such a good fit for paladin.

I would use an axe or mace and give it a fiery enchant, personally.

Ride a Flameward Hippogryph and call it good.

Armor you’d probably be best off using the Dark Iron heritage set. Weapons are a little trickier, anything with a molten feel might work.

I don’t understand this statement. I’m not sure I follow.

I mean that, while lore is established for what happens in the past, the greater cosmic sense, and all that, we also get to take into consideration our own feelings on how to interpret things. No, the Light and fire magic aren’t anything alike as far as the sources of those power go, but to the average individual Dark Iron Dwarf…it may not be that big of a leap.

Except Ragnaros enslaved them and the Light doesn’t. I don’t think the Dark Iron Paladins or Pirests interpret Light as close to Fire. I think they see it as a power that’s free from Ragnaros. One that can still bring them pride, strength and order over the chaos they used to know.

Not sure on Lore but I do remember seeing Dark Iron Paladins in Blackrock Depths back in the day so there’s that.

I had personally hoped, with the new Allied Races, that Dark Iron Dwarven Paladins would have more reskinned Paladin Abilities, aside from the Dark-Iron Ram Paladin Mount; Like when you pop Avenging Wrath, rather than growing the expected Angel wings, My Dark-Iron Paladin IMMOLATES. Or Guardian of Ancient Kings manifests as a Firelord (Ragnaros)

At the very least, Concecration would have a smoldering effect tied to the Ground AoE.

As well as cosmetic choices, Any Dark-Iron Paladin worth his Salts would have any variant of Sulfron, Hand of Ragnaros. Ideally, all 3. The Base hammer from Plans accrued from the Thorium Brotherhood, the Legendary Variant from continuous runs through Molten Core, and the Updated Variant, Sulfron, the Extinguished Hand, from the Firelands Cataclysm Raid. All paired nicely with the Flames of Ragnaros Effect, Which at this time can be gotten by churning out alts on the feast of Winters’ Veil and popping gifts until you get it.

Armor; I personally would opt with the Dark Iron Racial Armor, and depending on how much of a shill you are, the Gem of the Firelord, from the In-Game shop. Otherwise, anything that looks dark, blackened, or fiery would be an ideal fit for a Dark-Iron Paladin, Bent on bringing light and swift justice, to the dark corners of Azeroth.

Ones you can’t get. Because they did not release the super cool new DI weapons.
