Ooooh, that makes sense. The account is ancient, back in Vanilla, but I haven’t posted on the forums until last night.

Michael McConnohie is a Vietnam vet and requested that the charity be for Wounded Warrior Project.

And it’s funny on how you mention trolling when Eastvale’s been outed for doing just that.

Using my “once every three years” forum post to both express surprise Imfernal is still doing RP-PvP after 8463857594 years post-Emerald Dream, and my delight that somehow you’re still at it. Your constitution is girthy, my brother.

As a total outsider who’s never been in any of these guilds or attended DotD, a few notes.

Was this always a RP-PVP event? From my off-the-top-of-my-head recollection in previous years the call seemed to be more for people to volunteer their characters to be captured, tortured and killed by the Forsaken as like, traitors against the Undead or something. That was never really something I’d be into, and I just don’t spend enough time on the Horde to really have any developed characters that’d be rah-rah Forsaken on the other side, so I’ve always given it a miss. It always seemed like the people who went had a good time, though.

It seeeeeeemmmmssssss llllliiiiiiiike…there was a specific story that the runners of the event wanted to tell through this event. Did they…communicate OOC that every effort was going to be made to tell that story, including stacking the deck in major and minor ways towards the benefit of the Horde side? It seems like the guilds who were lead by alts and friends of the UN had the inside line on that that other guilds and participants might not have been let in on.

My unkindest thought about the situation is that I can’t help but wonder if it’s possible that other out-of-the-loop guilds and organizations were encouraged to participate to act as a diversion and cannon fodder for said friends and alts who would’ve been steamrolled by sheer numbers and focus otherwise and were instead mostly left to their own RP victories while the focus of the PVP part of the PVP event was purposely turned to the split-off fish in a barrel participants instead. I have zero evidence that that was the case, that’s just me wondering, as the imagination of a writer tends to wander.

Overall, though, it just seems like it’s a bad idea to set up an event for the clear purposes of giving one side a victory for the sake of the story and not letting the other people showing up know beforehand that it’s that kind of event even if it seems like it should be “obvious”. By having half of one group be “ringers” who were going to pursue the RP part of the event to the exclusion of the PVP, by saying on the one hand “It’s Alliance vs. Horde because it’s a PVP mechanic and it doesn’t matter if there’s two factions that won’t be cooperating” but also at the same time saying “It doesn’t matter if one side wasn’t cooperating internally because it’s just RP and people were following their RP goals”, and by not just clearly communicating that through anything but an increasing set of restrictions and rulechanges I feel like those were misses on the part of the organizers.

I mean, if it was me, and I went to participate and stuff kept coming down from above to stack the odds like that I would’ve either dipped if I really had my heart set on participating in a balanced PVP event or I would’ve brought my finest redshirt to die horribly as was clearly intended if I really had my heart set on a RP event. The people saying things like “What did you expect?” and “Run your own event if you wanted to win” should’ve been clearer with the people who were joining up under the impression that it would be a fair fight when the narrative of “Victory to the Forsaken” was the obvious aim of the event.

Anyhoo, that’s just my completely unasked-for two cents, as someone who’s been around a long time and is generally aware of many of the people involved, but has no stake with any of them and has only ever seen these events go by as ads on the forums.

I am specifically calling out to the one member deleting character RP threads in a discord after being called out for passing screenshots and stirring drama. So it’s funny how you’re trying to discredit one side by pointing at the other with tears in your eyes.

At the end of the day, the event passed, it was poorly administered. I hope no one is actually upset over the 21 minutes the event actually ran, because that would be silly. Most I imagine will forget all about it in a week.

Both Peaches, and Bans have states the opposite. Heck a friend of mine even saw the screenshots. Keep digging a hole for yourself and your guild.

Edit: Nevermind, don’t blame you for the long meandering post, all of this is so sad at this point it’s funny.

Uhhhh…the TL;DR version of all of that is…

If the people running the thing were setting it up so that they won for the sake of the story they wanted to tell, they should’ve told the people who were coming that that was the aim of the story. Is the condensed version of all of that :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

I have seen the admin log for the Discord, it’s plain as day. I have no idea why you are so invested in this, as you have been constantly poking and prodding and slinging this entire thread where people just wish to offer valid criticisms about an event.

At the end of the day, I do not know who you are, so there is truly nothing gained or lost from this interaction.

There is a right way to do things. Giving “criticism” in a thread that is meant to advertise the event is not the way to do it. Kindly stop lying.

Yesterday was such a beautiful and joyful experience, I was able to jump into the dueling as I heard the community ask questions to one of our wow devs, having them answer some of those long asked questions about the lore, and getting to satisfy both of my passions in one eevnt, pvp, lore and roleplay is just something so SUBLIME something I can only do at this level one time a year.

I love DotD so much.

Served in a 16 ounce bottle but is to be consumed like an Irish car bomb, dropping in a dissolvable marble of sweet cream that reacts with the alcohol inside. Below is the Dice Roll table. All who attempt this drink are to /roll 1d 20 and relay their number. Should challengers pass, they win prizes. Should they fail, they end up on the Wall of shame added to the tally count.

-------Roll Results-------

1-2 = Winner! ( Roll a 1- you get a swag bag with a plush toy, glassware set, Keelhauler T-shirt. 2 get a standard L&S T-shirt, a stein, and a plush.)
3-5 = Fine! (these numbers win a Stein!)
6-10 = Still fine! just buzzed! (no prize!)
11-15 = Mild Reaction - Wall of shame - also a bit tipsy!
16-19 = Severe Reaction - Wall of Shame count - a little drunk!
20 = SEVERE REACTION! - may need medical attention - DRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNK!
