Daily reminder that Blizzard is purposely killing arena participation by leaving rating reqs in

Just like tbc classic, blizzard is once again doubling down on leaving rating requirements on arena gear, killing arena participation. For whatever reason, however, they decided to make it so that you start with 0 rating, rather than 1500 like original wrath.

The biggest example of this is taking a look at the deadly weps. 4500 points AND 1800 rating for weps that are worse than Naxx25 weps. No incentive for casual/low skill players who might be interested in arena to even bother.

WOTLK is the most casual friendly expansion so far for PVP access.

There’s good blue craftable BOE gear that’s cheap. There’s sets available for PVE emblems (Savage for Heroism and Hateful for Valor).

The Hateful set only has shoulder rating requirement of 1350.

VoA drops 3 pieces of Deadly and Hateful in 25 and 10 man respectively: chest/gloves/legs.

WG has a helm that’s a bit better than Hateful.

So you can basically get a top end set that’s nearly BIS in every slot pretty casually. And yes 10 man Naxx drops weapons off KT that are as good as Deadly Glad weapons.

And presumably in the next phase, there will be weapons available for honor or arena points without rankings.

Why complain about this?

Casuals are welcome to play arena. Infact, I encourage it and hope everyone can be
positive and learn from each other. Casuals are not welcome to have arena gear for free. Hope you have a great weekend.

But why for pve everyone is given gear from the naxx/sarth/maly loot pinata

It’s trending to have worst participation than TBC. People don’t feel it’s that way.

At the same rate at which Illidan drops Glaives! Great…

“Good” is relative in this game, when there is “Better” and “Best.” Does it hurt your experience to have your opponents be on equal footing? Are you hoping to smurf people in other brackets?

What percentage of players is 1350 when Challenger is 1412 and trending downwards?

it’s not better. It’s the same with a swapped stat type.

It’s not BiS. And, if it’s so close as you say, what’s the harm in giving them BiS? Every piece of gear has some effect on the game. In this case, there being nothing to strive for when the points are zero sum.

Why gatekeep weapons only as good as Naxx 10 when they’re not even BiS?

Because when everyone finishes Hateful after a few weeks of playing and the system itself stops 2/3rds of the population from advancing, they will stop playing and the situation is going to get even worse?

I called it a long time ago, people defended it but the same people defending it are logging off Wrath to play DF lol

Yeah I don’t get it, bummed to see it playing out again this way and I’ll just be going back to retail. Retail will have 10x the pop and solo shuffle rated, along with not having to pve to pvp like wrath.

Not only will Solo shuffle be massive but also actually having cross server, it’s so dumb how limited Classic is even with all the technology available.

Yeah the lack of cross server is atrocious, I’m not on faerlina/benediction so finding partners with xp higher than even 1700 is insanely difficult.

I mean this is an embarrassingly bad take, but okay I guess, go off lol

Weapons used to be 2050 req in original wotlk, so I think blizzard did enough to make it more casual friendly, to the tune of knocking weapon requirements down a 250 CR peg.

Hateful sets were supposed to be the casual arena set, Deadly sets were the Elite sets, and savage was for very casual battleground players who had no interest in arena.

With ratings that broke 3000 in original wrath, i think having shoulders at 2000 rating is as casual as it can possibly get in terms of allowing lower skilled players to obtain their “elite set”.

Low arena participation is because of a lack of progressive character changes and playing seasons 5-8 through the lens of 3.3.5. Specs and classes that are strong right now will only become progressively stronger, and specs and classes that are weak right now will only become progressively weaker - barring a few exceptions, and that’s it. That’s classic WotLK PvP. There will be no tuning, no nerfs, no buffs, that’s just it, you get what you get and that’s it, it will not get better unless you play a meta spec / class / comp, it will only get worse, and that is what turns people off from participation in classic arena pvp, period.

You do realize that the top 100 teams are all stuck around 2k right? The average casual player is more so in the 500 - 1500 range.

The highest team in any bracket right now is 2400.

Everyone is at a deflated rating because of starting 1500 lower, that is the entire point. 1400 is challenger. By the time you have rating for Deadly gear you are already into title range.

It’s not right.

Basically this.

It’s week 3 you psychopaths…

You are proving my point for me lol – week 3 and there are already teams 400 rating over the highest rating you could possibly need to complete your entire elite set lmao what

Yes and people need to see that there is gear within their reach NOW or they just won’t bother.

When the bottom falls out who will you farm for rating?
You don’t.

Do glad players NEED to see that glad rating NOW or they just wont bother queueing the last week of the season?

It’s week 3 and it’s already dead.
