I played BC with a Rogue for a short time at the end of the xpac, and I remember playing as both swords, and ambush dagger spec but cant remember the details.
What is the way to go? Looking particularly for fun factor/soloability. Extra swing swords or big crit ambushes? Help me choose fellas!
Well, Ambush requires a dagger in the main hand, but swords do more overall damage, and most attacks are based on weapon damage. That extra swing is reeeally juicy, but so is Ambush if it crits. Hard to choose.
Swords > Fist > Mace > dagger (assuming you do not have the ability to DW the BS maces)
That’s a massive oversimplification because there are some wonky specs for combat that actually turn great numbers that are mixed weapons like Swod offhand (sword spec) Fist weapon MH (fist spec)
Hope that helps, this is assuming a 2.4.3 build, early TBC was a bit different.
Special note, if you’re doing PVE the fastest possible offhand for combat potency is a must, ideally sword if you have sword spec.
Dagger specs can work out great, just that its hard to beat a good sword setup, but also swords are harder to get until T5.
So as you can see its a ton of “if then” statements you gotta answer to make things work out for you.
Fireguard -> That is the weapon rogues used back then, because Arena started a month after TBC was out and to get the amount of points you needed to buy, they were already raiding.
By the time they could get the Arena OH season 1, they could upgrade already to Blazeguard (as guilds cleared T4 and attuned to SSC / TK.
Blinkstrike / Fireguard. A lot of rogues go with the Blade of the Unrequited from Karazhan (Romeo and Juliet event) because it’s fast with a whopping THREE gem slots on it.
Not a sword and also even worse rng to get than any other drop in kara.
Actually Latro’s was 10x more popular, there just wasn’t a heap of sword smithing rogues back then. I can remember more rogues with felsteel lolblade than blazeguard.
Which is gonna get you killed in Classic/BC, partly because there are no monks here, and partly because well… you is a bear, and at this point in time bears are for skinning (and making dumb jokes about skinning bears).
Combat Sword.Btw don’t trust any of the hybrid builds from TBC and the private server weird builds.I tried all that rubbish on my first account back in the day.All it did was cost a lot of gold and time ;s
If it’s pvp, its hemo and maces. Anyone who says otherwise is more than likely still stuck in a stun lock.
Not the most “fun” spec at all, but the most effective.
While it is a weird server as you may know, the world PvP is amazing. I’ve seen some insane PvP in goldshire as all the flagged horde hang out there. It also serves as a great dueling area. Its pretty much the Las Vegas of WoW. I love it.
