Cyberpunk is another example

A game that got released before it was completed.

No man’s sky, Fallout76, etc

Theres multiple examples, so the whole idea of never pre-order is becoming more and more clear, problem is, that this is an issue ultimately caused by both sides, gamers that pre-order a game despite not knowing how the game will come out and the devs who were forced by the CEO to release anyway despite the state of the game.

Fortunately CDProject took responsibility and apologized (which means a lot considering a bunch of other garbage companies like Naughty Dog or Bethesda exist) offering refunds for those that cant forgive them, and promising a proper finished game by around February for those that give them a second chance.

But yeah, i think the best and probably only option right now is, never, ever, pre-order a game, give the Devs the time they need, we have seen theres devs out there that do care even when they get completely trashed after a terrible release, an example being Hello Games that made No Man’s Sky, the CEOs have to stop rushing the Devs to release a broken game, and probably the best way to do that is for us to stop pre-ordering and constantly asking “wheres the game”.

Well whats your opinion on the matter?

Most video games have sucked for the past 10 years and it’s the gaming communities fault like you mentioned. People will pre-order games which they’re usually promised either early play or some type of cosmetic add on with it.

It doesn’t help that there are some “reputable” game reviewers that will throw praise at the game for $$$$$.

This is just the gaming industry now.

Those idiots should be fired honestly, they’ve proven over and over again they arent real games, they suck at games, only care about political agendas, constantly antagonize gamers, etc

It’s not perfect, I have my complaints about some of the components, and it does feel that some parts were omitted due to time constraints, but I’ve got 34 hours in it and am enjoying it immensely.

They shouldn’t have promised it on base last-gen consoles, which I believe caused delays and was a detriment to bug solution on the PS5/XS S/X and PC, though.

To be honest, this should have just been a PC game only, then back ported to next gen consoles at a later date. It would have given them time to do it correctly on PC for the full featured experience, then time to work on next-gen consoles and then allow them to not have to waste time trying to make them work on those other dinosaurs.

Yeah it seems like a mess.

Nothing new for the way the industry works these days as others have stated. I didn’t preorder, but I bought on day one, then refunded. I will buy it again 6 months from now when bugs are worked out and I can buy a new gpu for msrp. 1080 ain’t cutting it.

One thing I’m wondering is, since the original target release of the game was April of this year, what hardware were they targeting? The new consoles wouldn’t have been out, nor would the new gpu generation. I imagine the situation would have been even worse, bugs aside.

Well the consoles were likely meant to release earlier as well but… yeah, that global event happened

If your expectation is 1080p/30fps, then even the base RTX 2060 with any competent CPU of the last couple generations could play the game mostly fine even with ray tracing.

Here they are using DLSS Quality, if they knocked it down to Balanced or Performance, it would hit the 30fps mark on a 2060.

Heck, with the 1080p/30fps target, even a 3gb GTX 1060, a $199 card from 2016.

There’s a video of a guy playing it on minimum system requirements, and even that seems like a WAY better experience than PS4.

It’s painfully obvious PC was the real system to play this on. It was a mistake/deception that it would have been on consoles. Probably not the fault of the developers but some filthy CORPO SUIT

I’m going to say it doesn’t matter when they were going to release it on console. Seeing how demanding this game is, there’s just no way the PS4/Xbone were going to run the game satisfactorily.

LMAO filthy corpo suit.

I have a 9900k and 1080 atm, yes if I used 1080 resolution and medium settings it was playable, but I didn’t wanna play the game that way. 1440p medium settings got around 50 fps, kinda spoiled, really want to hover around 90. So it’s gotta be an rtx 3080, I just don’t wanna feed the scalpers.

Admittedly, my results are with an RTX 3080 :joy:

My wife plays on a 5700XT and it still looks/runs amazing at 1080p. Well over 60fps on high setting.

PS5 still has decent hardware so not sure if that’s to blame or if it was just a horrible coded port that’s causing all the issues.

PS4/X1 still should have had decent enough specs to run 1080p with some DSR.

Mmmmmmmmm… Granted 80% on steam is very low compared to The Witcher 3, but in comparison to those two, this is much better.

But in terms of situation, it’s very similar, albeit with subtle differences here and there. With the case of Fallout 76 though, i don’t think that game will ever be finished until Bethesda hires a new team for it, as well a new team in general to handle their single-player games from now on.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, i’m not sure, so i’m gonna have to take a look at the Cutting Room Floor here.

Well really, any company can do that.

Also any company can do that.

This is why i don’t look at CDPR as different from your EA’s, Ubisoft’s, Rockstar’s, Squenix, and so on. Why not just make a better game from the start instead of just rushing it to market and make a promise later? If it’s not polished or ready, don’t put it out, delay the game. Yes, i know they did it like 3 times already, but i don’t think the 4th time isn’t gonna hurt.

Well another reason why it got trashed on release because the CEO of Hello Games made all these vague hints or promises or outright lies about it’s game or stuff being in the game. There exists an entire list of them made back in 2016. Much like Fallout 76’s E3 now that i’ve think about it.

“16 times the detail.”

Normally i don’t want people to be fired, but in the case of video game reviewers, i do agree they should be at least competent at the video games they play, and i do agree they should just not antagonize gamers and try to demonize them, or push a political agenda of sorts. If you’re (not you rocky), unable to do all three of these things, then i have no pity for you. Gamers or anybody who is wanting to buy games are here to read your reviews and make an informed purchasing decision about the video game you’re reviewing.

How is it the communities fault when a game is released in a poor state?

In what world does this make sense

Only because I know that’s the console expectation.

I’m not playing that way, lol.

The pre-ordering of video games is a plague in the gaming community and people continue to do it.

Game companies jebaiting consumers for their games with cosmetics and early access when the game is horrible.

This is pretty common knowledge that this happens very frequently. Sorry that you lack common knowledge in this world.

Again, it’s not the gaming community’s fault when a game comes out in a poor state.

Place the blame squarely on the developer / publisher

Its more of indirectly, cause people keep pre-ordering and stuff.

So after having 45 hours of playtime, and finishing the game with the “good” ending, it definitely feels unfinished.

I can see how the story choices would make a lot of sense if a player chose a certain path, but the other paths sort of lead you the same direction, and if you want the “good” ending (i say that with a heavy dose of caution) then you can only really play as one background for it to make sense. The choices I made throughout the game, including romances, didn’t really fit well with the ending.

It feels like a lot of the game just wasn’t thought out well, or was very ambitious and then suddenly when actually making it happen, they realized it wasn’t really cohesive but just went “oh well”.

This game has some serious potential, and definitely a sequel in the same world would and some iteration would make this game great.

You can say the same thing about the original witcher PC game (not the 90’s cluster @#$& version). The game was half done and mediocre, not until they patched it after a year was it actually approaching a solid game. CD Projekt Red launched a new series and the entire gaming community said “great make it the witcher IV but sci-fi and just as polished as the witcher III after all its patches”

Well like I said, I did enjoy the game despite its faults, and I feel a sequel or more iteration on the potential could make it a great game.
