Game developers got lazy. Simple.
I will pick up the game down the road and from what you and the review sites have stated it does seem like a good game.
Yeah the issues with the game are mainly technical.
I will probably get it in a few months once the bugs are fixed.
They forced their workers to work six day weeks to finish the game across multiple-platforms, I’m not sure how that makes them “lazy”? Rushed to meet a difficult holiday deadline, biting off more than you can chew and/or over ambitious? Sure but not lazy.
There’s also an unmistakable “something’s missing” feeling often. It’s not enough to make the game bad, or to skip it, but I’ve had that feeling and I think some DLCs could really fix that up.
Big fixes:
- AI
- Hairstyle/customization in-game.
- Transmog
- DLC Story content to flesh-out characters.
- Bugs/glitches.
I believe this + a healthy dose of community/media hype was it.
Whole heartedly disagree.
If I go to a food place and the food/service is horrible every single time.
If they entice me with some kind of deal to get me to come in and the food/service is horrible still. At some point some blame falls on the consumer as well.
Exactly, the gamers themselves share part of the blame.
Cause they keep eating products despite how terrible they get treated, specially pre-ordering which is plain a terrible idea, youre paying for something you dont even know will be good or not, check The Last of Us 2 for example, everyone was waiting for that game, until the leaks came out and revealed the absolute disaster it was which was further worsen by Naughty Dog’s actions.
If a game studio keeps putting out bad games, you should stop supporting that studio. Not sure what that has to do with pre-orders.
Cause pre-ordering supports the studio???
Anyway, a lot of people get baited due to the pre-order only rewards and stuff and end up with a terrible game.
Well thankfully CP2077 isn’t a terrible game. It’s just a bit underdone.
I mean when the game is barely playable, i does classify has a terrible game.
Until it get fixed.
Rephrase - the game is fine on PC.
Look, I don’t usually preorder games because I don’t see a reason to part with my money for a product that is available digitally. Back in the day, there could be a limited stock of physical boxed games, and a pre-order would guarantee you would get a copy. Digital games will never be sold out.
That said, preorders have nothing to do with whether a game is shipped in a good state or not. That’s 100% on the developer and/or their publisher.
Going after other players or the community because a game is bad is… a very odd thing to do.
I mean, it is partially their fault aswell, cause if you keep supporting companies despite how poorly they treat you… well its on you.
And lately a bunch of companies are in this mentally of release anyway and later patch the game up, which is just insulting to the players.
I agree with this, but again, it has nothing to do with pre-orders. If a company keeps shipping games in a bad state, or ships bad games, yes, you should stop buying them.
If you choose to buy them despite a history of shipping junk, yes, agreed, that’s on the consumer.
Despite this, it is still the developer/publishers responsibility to ship a quality product.
Just imagine if CP2077 was PC only, and it released in this state.
Sure, it might have only got a 7 out of 10, but PC generally allows for user-based mods and fixes (already there is an AMD code fix for performance, mods for game, etc.) and then they could have got ideas from the community to fix what needed to be broken, and then release the PS5/XBSX in a year (by this time scrapping PS4/Xbone as infeasible) version without any bugs, and patch the PC version incrementally.
Damn this is kind of true. I haven’t been looking forward to almost anything… currently just looking forward to Zenith a VR MMORPG I hope turns out good. But as far as good games, I can think of a few in the past 10 years…
Skyrim, gta V (not the online), rune Factory 4, Smash Bros, Mario maker, last of us 1, I mean there’s been a lot of great games… but I could count way more better games 20-30 years ago xD
Yeah preordering is not a good idea, what’s the point? They won’t run out of copies like they do with consoles. I wouldn’t even preorder that game I’m waiting to play Zenith, will just wait for it to come around. I did preorder ff7 remake but that’s an exception since I’ve been waiting for that for 15 years… I know some people been waiting for cyberpunk for 8 years so idk, oh well, just let them enjoy their bugged out game xD
Keep in mind 20-30 years ago we were satisfied with a side scrolling beat-em up that had a game play time of about 2 hours with a first play through and a speedrun time of under 30 minutes. And they were still $50-60, in 1990 dollars.
The reality isn’t that games have gotten worse, it’s that players have expected WAY MORE. If it’s not pristine perfect with support for a very wide range of platforms, it’s trash. If it doesn’t include someone’s preferred inclusion options, it’s discriminatory. If it doesn’t have enough content, it’s unfinished. And yet, you’re still looking at enjoyment for more than 20 hours for $60 in 2020 dollars.
Your typical game is around 12-20 hours, with many especially open world games being well over 30-50 with a lot of things to continue doing for some meaningful progress.
Most games these days are much better overall than they were in the 90s, in terms of quality, duration, and interactivity. They may not be as polished as we’d like them to be, but that’s not the fault of the consumer, it’s a corporate issue with big companies and shareholders.
The good news, is that compared to the 90s, you actually will get updates, fixes, patches, and DLCs that address the games’ weaknesses, vs. back then you got a pile of ET cartridges nobody wanted in a landfill somewhere.
Yeah you have a point, having the ability to patch/update a game now is a lot better than before. I cant think of any of my favorite games 20-30 years ago that were side scrollers besides Rayman 1 that had a hell of a lot more than 2 hours gameplay xD
But one other reason we have less favorite games in the past 10 years is how long it takes to develop games… like, ff7 and FF8 are some of my favorite games, they came out 1997 1998 just 1 year apart from each other… nowadays it takes square 4-10 years to make one final Fantasy, and they’re still decent, it’s just a lot more work and time required to develop games… we can’t get FF16 in 2021 and FF17 in 2022-2024… lol xD cyberpunk had 8 years of development, ff7r had 5+ years, FF15 had 10+ years… re2 remake had like 3-4 yrs while the original ff7/re2 probably had less than 2 years to be worked on.
