Let me just throw this one out here, we have three nodes on our common talent tree related to curses, one of our hero talents tree have curse related options, our spells throw out curses in mass.
A this point i would assume we are the greatest scholars and connoisseurs of the cursing magic.
Yet we cannot dispell curses ?
The only reason I think we donât have a curse dispel is because dispelling curses is pretty helpful to others, and warlocks donât help or care about others.
Perhaps if we had something that could redirect a curse back to its caster, it could be our harmful version of a dispel
I wish for warlock specifically they lean more on the cursing targets mechanics.
More in depth design but would need an amazing theory crafter for that that can heavily tune it.
Make curses more useful in fights where they actually would be useful (the fact that they do practically nothing to raid and dungeon bosses is laughable) and give curses some proper quality of life fixes and Iâll use them.
Also bring back Impending Catastrophe. Venthyr Warlocks might have sucked but once they fixed that spell it was amazing
Curses are only taken bc its required to move up the class tree. In most cases, you dont even use them. Heck, they are not even on my action bars currently.
They really need to become optional
I mean, I use Curse of the Satyr all the time in PvE and Exhaustion/Tongues in PvP. Itâs a solid utility in making casting much easier to target for interrupts. Hell, since warlock AOE needs so much set-up, I normally tab-cast it on every mob before casting Cataclysm and single-targeting priority mobs in M+ because other classes are just so much better at pure AOE damage. Doesnât make me look good on the meters, but it normally leads to smoother runs when I leave the heavy lifting to ret pallies, hunters, and shamans.
Tongues / Satyr still useful on some M+ trash. But I only apply it while moving out of bad.
Yea, i just dont touch it at all. Its useless tbh.
A lot of tank damage comes from the bosses auto attack, a 20% reduction in that is fairly nice.
I love my curses and I was so sad in Legion when they took them away!
How many bosses have a fast attack speed we can use it on?
Antidotal evidence and not at all accurate of the community.
20% is 20%. Less damage for the healers to worry about and more time to focus on the raid.
If not a dispel then at least a resistance to curses, or maybe a way to reflect them back onto the caster.
Is this logic not like asking why a butcher isnât also a vet?
Warlocks are destructive. The idea of removing a Curse just seems completely pointless to learn. Why on earth would you want to remove pain and suffering upon another soul?
Cause if you work around a bunch of untrustworthy people that excel with curses, learning how to get rid of them seems a valuable thing to know
Edit: a butcher isnât a vet, but knows enough veterinary science to recognize bad meat
Thanks for your useless input, level 60 hunter
LOL
but yeah curses are awesome and many were ecstatic when they returned in SL. Class identity took a real nose dive, in BFA especially
Warlocks are magic terrorists. My job is to unleash destruction, not prevent it
So youâre gonna work around a bunch of unstable magic and not even ATTEMPT at mitigating a bad result against yourself?
You donât have to want to save other people, but having a decurse method in a group as frequently back-stabby as a bunch of warlocks seems a smart maneuver.
âI want to cause devastation, not prevent it!â Ok, guess you donât need a soulstone either, why bring someone back from the dead when you want to destroy things?
Nope not even a little bit. If you mess with weapons of mass destruction and you use shortcuts in the process, you are gonna get burned one way or the other
I get what youâre trying to say, but this is your average canon warlock to a T. Legion and zones like Dreadscar Rift are filled with lore about this very thing. Even big name warlocks like Gulâdan have bitten off more than they can chew.
Are we just going to ignore the countless lives that went into the conjuring of said soulstone orrrr
Average warlock sure, but player characters areâŚwell above average at least. If player characters were as reckless as the average warlock then weâd never have made it through even classic.
Even Kanrethad had Jubeka ready to banish him as a backup failsafe. Guldan bit off more then he can chew but it wasnât him paying the price if he could manage it, thats what minions and contingencies are for.
Its not âwarlocks should be powerful and reckless spellcastersâ, but âthe BEST warlocks are cunning manipulators and self-preserving to a faultâ.
At the very least its well within lore if the decursing was a self action only, like warlocks can decurse but literally only themselves. You donât get to be a long lived warlock without contingency planning.
I mean worst case it costs 1. Never said protecting yourself was clean and easy. Just making the point it doesnât make sense to make one in the first place if youâre only concerned with âmessing with weapons of mass destructionâ. Thereâs a reason Dreadscar Rift is filled with lore about warlocks making the mistake to not protect themselves, and the player character is alive and well using soulstones and healthstones to protect themselves.
