Current M+ difficulty is not good for player retention

Been getting KSM religiously for years but it has been quite a struggle this season.Locking last tier of crests behind plus 9s is soo frustrating atm.
To be able to get into groups or even clear them you need to upgrade that 619 capped gear but you cant cause those crests are locked behind plus 9 completion…
Drop them down to 7s and then people will be able too break that cap…and for god sake stop nerfing the crests when the key fails…If you complete above timer give us the crests anyway call it a perseverance reward…Make the game fun again and reward us for time spent and dedication…I have rl freinds already losing interest and quitting because they are hard locked at that 619 levels…Soo basically your telling people your here and stuck herte til next big patch live with it…There is no way of progressing at the moment with this system…
heres what i suggest to fix these issues:
1-Drop gilded crests to plus 7 keys (crests awarded even on failed timers )
2-Drop the difficulty of M+ drastically
3- stop catering to the top 3 % of your playerbase
4- look at your analytics and react to whats going on , your creating frustration at the moment , you can fix it !

Yea well thats cuz they made it harder since every raider was complaining that m+ is too good

Gearing feels like it’s in such a weird place at the very top end right now. It’s like… you need to already be able to do the hardest content to get that gear, so by the time you obtain it, you don’t really need it. Because… you can already do the content.

This is made worse by a number of issues, including how much more difficult high key levels feel, and them making gilded crests / mythic track vault come from far higher keys.

I think it was sort of okay before because mythic track was a smaller bonus above heroic. I personallly think that the difference should have been smaller. But they’ve gone and made the difference far bigger, and mythic upgrade materials and drops are MUCH more difficult to obtain. For me it’s definitely a step in the wrong direction.

I’d much prefer it if what is now heroic track was the best gear you could obtain, and you could gear up completely with that content to prepare to then take on the hardet content for rewards such as achievements, titles, transmogs and so on.

This would also negate the problem of players getting mythic gear when they can already clear the content, and then the content being made relatively trivial for them because their gear becomes so much stronger. Surely the reason they are doing that content is because they enjoy the challenge?

They have done something similar in pvp, with baseline conquest gear being top ilvl, and then higher ranked rating providing transmogs / titles etc, and it has made pvp gearing FAR better, much more enjoyable and now you can just focus on enjoying playing pvp for fun.

I’m so sick of these threads. Jesus people, its week 3 of the season!!! Give it some time, practice some more, wait on some more vault upgrades to help.

Time is precious these days. The MMO world is not the same as it used to be. People have other games to play, their lives are often busier and sometimes people want to be able to hop into the game and continue to play with their friends. Not spend hours bricking keys that are obnoxiously difficult for no real reason other than to artificially prolong the gearing process.

People who would get KSM on the first week are still getting it the first week. You don’t need any gilded crests to achieve that goal if you are getting it before over gearing it. The item level curve is still going up at the same rate as it did before and if they cannot clear sixes and sevens at 619 item level, that is definitely a skill issue.

Exactly my point - people who can do the content already don’t need the ‘mythic’ track gear. I think it would be better if the gear just stopped at heroic track.

I agree with making the crests available in 7 or 8 keys. I’m currently 615 and 2127 rating, but I can’t get into 7 and above keys. I’ve topped the meter of every group I’ve been in as retribution. It appears people want a higher rating than the key will provide, or they’re looking for outrageous gearing. I’d like to continue upgrading my gear, but I can’t get there with the apparent gatekeeping.

I would love if they crunched M+ down completely to the amount of different currencies they have for the season, so M+, M++, M+++, and M++++. Keep it simple, play at the level you want, balance around that. But even if they changed it, I’d never go back. Not my cup of tea, I’ve had to many bad experiences with the community to ever pug it again.

There isn’t much more time. I have a large percentage of my friends already preparing to call it for this expansion. There’s too many good games coming out here soon for Blizzard to sit here and cater to the top 3% of the player-base. Strictly from a business perspective alone once they see the subscription numbers dip it’s going to happen anyway. They might as well fix the problem before seeing that dip instead of as a knee-jerk reaction to the dip in subscriptions.

Lowering crests for bricked key is a recipe for a toxic community… thats such a bad decision…

yah… idk that crests are related here… but I do agree DPS have to be at least 100-300 IO higher to get into keys… which is crazy.

After clearing all 5 keys on one of my dps I can’t get into 6 keys hardly at all… That’s just crazy… I practically HAVE to do my own key to break into the 6’s on a dps… where as my healer and tank can both get invited to a 7 key, before even clearing their first 6… which is hillarious!
