Current M+ difficulty is not good for player retention

I expect that M+ will be made progressively easier throughout the season.

I think it’s fine for now - but as players get to the ilvl 619 cap, I am curious what will change.

As it stands, +9s and Mythic Raiding is flat out not accessible to anyone who doesn’t play this game professionally (or those who are good enough to)… and BiS ilvl 619 gear isn’t going to make it so (much less anything worse). In 1-2 months, what’s going to keep people around for the other 1-2 months before season 2 starts?

Nah. Players just need to come to terms with the fact that they’re bad. It’s always easier to look externally and complain that the content is too hard.

Would you be happy if they nerfed the difficulty of m+ as you outlined but then put in an even higher ilvl tier beyond the mythic track for players who can complete higher keys?

Just delete Challenger’s Peril, it literally killing pugs atm

I don’t wanna join a M+ team or guild just to do M+ lol

I’ve always done pugs and this season it’s been a nightmare to pug because any wipe and people already quits and the key is bricked zzzzzz

I think Mythic+ was killed kind of at all levels.

  • Challenger’s peril does suck and creates a toxic environment where people leave if you have 1 wipe sure. People are not having a good time at this level and player retention will suffer.

  • Xal’atath’s Guile is also a kind of HUGE step up from an 11 as well. Currently it kind of feels like the end of challenging yourself. When I finish out these 11’s I feel like that’s it for awhile. Player retention will suffer.

These are both just huge walls randomly inserted into the difficulty curve in different places.

Mythic+ in every way feels worse than Dragonflight.

Then make more content that has meaningful rewards outside of Dungeons/Raids… its why Delve is highly regarded at the moment, but there’s no way to reliably grind it.

It will. We’re just hoping for Blizzard to do it not so we don’t waste the next month with stalled character progression. And ideally, from a financial standpoint from there, before the subscriptions numbers dip instead of as a response to it.

All you need to do is wait for more weeks to upgrade your gears to 619.

This is spot on. I am also at all 11 and currently no pug accepts me at 12+ . But there isnt anything else for me to do since i already timed everything else before.

What am i supposed to do ? Is this the end in m+ for me? Or run my own keys? Still the jump from 11 to 12 is so big and steep that even my own key has a miniscule chance to get timed. I need to put volume into 12 to learn and optimise but that aint happening due to pugs just not inviting anyone.

M+ has gone from a seasonal activity to do all 11 and unsub due to impossible to progress.

If you just want ksm that’s straight 7’s or something even lower. Wtf do you need gilded crests for? Most of us end up getting ksm well before we do our first gilded craft… so your suggestions make no sense in regards to your goals. Ksm is the participation trophy of wow… you don’t need too of the line gear to get your “also ran” accolade.

Have you ever wondered if maybe blizz wasn’t catering to the top 3% and maybe it’s just that after we take the ppl who never reach 80, the gold spammers, and the ppl simply not interested in even trying group content out of the analytics… you’re simply in the bottom 3% of ppl who actually do the activity you’re trying to do and the rest of us are fine with the difficulty?

What raiders actually complain about is the raids being tuned around max M+ gear.

Separate dungeons & raids (like they do with PvP) and M+ can drop whatever you want, as far as I’m concerned.

The core problem, though, is that raid loot is absolute garbage.

The participation trophy of wow that over 85% of the community won’t even get. You guys do not realize the absolute levels of gameplay happening right now. Even if you’re in the top 5%, or the top 1%, or even the top 0.1%, the top 0.01% and the top 0.001% laugh at you, and you are nothing compared to them (at least in their eyes). You should have been on the beta with them for over a month as well, what were you doing, play the live version that actually counts instead???

How much do you sell carries for out of curiosity?

I don’t.

I don’t even pug.

The only reason I even play WoW is to play with my friends.

That must be nice. My friends are quitting the game en masse per week and the guilds I’m in can’t fill raids anymore because people can’t time their keys outside of raid so they just quit. And that is why I’m here.

I had a ton of friends quit the game in BfA and Shadowlands, because Blizzard’s insistence on designing the entire game around M+ meant that raiding 3 nights a week turned into 3 nights a week of raiding, plus another 3 nights of M+ just so you could raid.

That’s a part-time job.

To hell with M+.

Obviously their whole goal is to get people to stop playing Mythic+

i whole heartedly agree. There are too many gear tracks. Both mythic and one of the earlier gear tracks needs to removed, maybe explorer. Mythic raid/10+ keys need to start dropping cosmetics/mounts as rewards.

Its not about being bad, its about feeling bad having to grind so hard for such tiny gains… Ive grinded my way to 3500 in bfa, and around 3200+ clearing 26+ in df, and it just feels so bad right now. Historically it has felt like a gradual climb, always gaining gear until you get to 20 keys, at which point you only get 1 gear gain per week (unless you raid) and that felt great… Right now, it feels like i’m already on 20 keys, at 7-8 keys…

And I have a feeling that at 10 keys, its going to feel even worse given that it’ll be both tyran and fort, with basically all hero gear since I dont raid, and I’ll be unlocking Myth gear for the first time… that is horrible design.

I would be willing to bet just about anything that the majority of the player base agrees.

Only ones that will think otherwise are top 8%, elitist wannabe’s that aren’t actually elite ergo not top 8%, and maybe some of the lower % that just dont care, oh and raiders because raiding actually feels on par with how it’s always felt, if not easier.
